Moving from IPhone

  • Wired transfer from your iPhone to your Samsung: iOS 5.0 or above, iPhone cable (lightning or 30 pin).
  • Import from iCloud: iOS 4.2.1 or higher and Apple ID.

Transferable content from iOS via USB

  • Personal content: Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Messages, Notes, and Bookmarks.
  • Multimedia: Photos, Music (DRM free content only), Videos (DRM-free content only), Documents,  and Voice Memos.
  • Apps and Settings: Wi-Fi networks list, Internet, Emails, compatible 3rd party apps  and Alarms, Home layout, Wallpaper and Lock screen.

 

Transferable content from iOS via iCloud

  • Personal content: Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Bookmarks.
  • Multimedia: Photos, Videos (DRM-free content only), and Documents.

To decrypt your backed up data on the iPhone:

  1. Initiate the data transfer using a USB adaptor; and
  2. When prompted on your iPhone, enter the password used to initially encrypt the data.

You should ensure the below requisites are kept in mind for both the devices before you initiate data transfer between your existing iPhone and the new Samsung device:

  1. Devices' battery needs to be sufficiently charged prior to the data transfer.
  2. Smart Switch mobile app is installed on your new Samsung device only.
  3. Disable "Encrypt iPhone Back-up" in iTunes before your initiate data content items transfer.
  4. Switch off iMessage on your iPhone.
  5. Use a compatible Lightning-to-USB-C to connect your devices. If your old iPhone charging cable does not have a USB-C end, a USB adaptor is required to connect your devices. You can get an adaptor from any Samsung Store (https://www.samsung.com/au/findastore/ ) or call us (1300 362 603 – Option 9 > 1 > 2) to request one.

You should deregister iMessage so you don’t miss any messages once you moved to Samsung. Learn how to deregister iMessage here.

Important note: Please keep your SIM card on your iPhone when deregistering iMessage.

You can transfer the content stored on your Mac to your new Samsung device by following the below steps:

  1. Pre-requisite: Download and install Android File Transfer software for Mac. Please note that Smart Switch for Mac will not work if using Android File Transfer software.
  2. Once installed, connect your compatible Samsung device to your Mac using a compatible USB cable.
  3. Android file transfer detects the connected Samsung device automatically and presents the file folders within the Samsung device.
  4. If transferring music, you can select and drag the compatible music files into the relevant file folder within Android File Transfer window.
  5. If transferring images and videos, first create a new file folder on the Mac home screen and then transfer the selected content items into that folder.
  6. Transfer the images and videos from the new file folder to the Samsung device within the Android File transfer window.
  7. After content transfer, disconnect your Samsung device.
