How to remove the Galaxy Ring if it is stuck

Note
Consider wearing the ring on a different finger for a better fit.

Use soap and water

The first method is to wet your finger with cold water and soap, and then remove the ring by turning it around slowly. Once removed, rinse your finger and the ring in fresh water, and then dry the ring with a clean, soft cloth.

Submerge in cold water

If your finger is swollen, you can try submerging it in cold water for some time until the swelling subsides. Once the swelling is down, remove the ring and dry it. Leave it off until the swelling is completely gone.

Hold your hand above heart-level

Hold your hand above your heart, and let it rest in this position for a while. This can help reduce swelling so that you can slide the ring off. Do not wear the ring until your finger or fingers have stopped swelling.

Emergency: Have a professional cut the ring off

Important
Consult a medical provider to cut the ring off. Do not attempt to do it yourself. The ring is an electronic device with an embedded battery. For safety, the ring must be cut along the indicator where the battery is not located. After the ring has been cut, take care to avoid sharp edges and dispose of it properly. Visit Samsung’s recycling page for more information.

If the above methods have failed and you need to cut the ring off, it should be done by a medical professional, and only as directed here.

  1. Locate the orientation indicator mark on the outside of the ring.
  2. Using a ring cutter or similar cutting tool, such as raptor shears or nippers, cut the ring along the orientation indicator mark.
  3. Once the ring is cut, insert a flat-head screwdriver through the gap to make room, and then remove the ring from the finger.
  4. If you still cannot remove the ring even after it was cut, make an additional cut one centimeter away to the left or right of the orientation indicator while being very careful to avoid the battery.
