Play sound from your Samsung TV on your Galaxy phone
Your 2023 Samsung TV or Odyssey Ark has a new audio option – playing the sound from your phone! That’s right, you can play your TV’s audio through your connected phone’s speakers if you’d like to enjoy some music or a podcast. Or, keep a video playing on your TV while you’re busy around the house and listen to the audio through your phone instead.
Play your TV’s sound on your phone
Maybe you’d like to enjoy something playing on your TV, but someone else in the room is busy working. Just play the TV’s sound through your phone instead, so the extra noise doesn’t bother them. To use this function, your TV must be added to the SmartThings app on your phone.
Make sure your TV is turned on. Then, swipe down from the top of your phone’s screen and tap Device control.
Find and select your TV, and then tap More options (the three vertical dots).
Tap Play TV sound on Phone.
Using the TV’s remote, select Allow on the TV to give your phone permission.
On your TV, navigate to and open an audio app, such as Spotify or YouTube. Or, select a channel or program you'd like to listen to.
Next, adjust the volume on your phone if needed. Now you’ll be able to hear the TV’s audio through your phone’s speakers!
Note: When the sound is playing on your phone, the sound will no longer play through the TV’s speakers.
To pause or stop playing the TV’s sound on your phone, swipe down from the top of the phone’s screen to open the Notification panel, and then tap the Pause icon next to Playing TV sound. Or, tap the X icon to completely stop the audio.
