Samsung Electronics ensures that its products comply with all applicable regulations and product safety standards.
We work hard for your safety by conducting our own extensive wearing and toxicity tests for all materials which come into contact with skin.
Guidance for users who are sensitive to certain materials
If you are sensitive or allergic to either of the following materials contained in the Galaxy Watch/Fit, then you should take additional care when using your Galaxy Watch/Fit for the first time or for a prolonged period.
If you experience reddening or irritation, remove your Galaxy Watch/Fit from your wrist and consult a dermatologist if the reaction is severe or does not disappear over time.
Nickel
The Galaxy Watch/Fit’s main body and band buckles are made of stainless steel, a non-corrosive metal alloy containing nickel. Nickel is widely used for everyday products but may cause an irritation or allergic reaction in some people.
Samsung Electronics manages this by limiting the nickel content to levels permitted by applicable regulations. We conduct additional third party analysis to verify this content.
Acrylate
The Galaxy Watch/Fit’s main body and band include acrylate.
Acrylate (Methacrylic acid) is commonly included in consumer goods which come into contact with skin, such as plaster gauze.
How to wear and clean
If you fasten the Galaxy Watch/Fit too tightly or loosely, your skin may become irritated. Wear the Galaxy Watch/Fit snugly on your wrist and keep it clean and dry. Though the Galaxy Watch/Fit complies with international safety standards, take necessary precautions if your skin is hypersensitive or if you have an allergy to any materials found in the Galaxy Watch/Fit.
Make sure that the Galaxy Watch/Fit is not exposed to dust, sweat, ink, oil or any chemical products such as cosmetics, sunscreen, antibacterial spray, hand cleaner, detergent or insecticides. If your Galaxy Watch/Fit is exposed to any of the previously mentioned substances, use a lint-free, soft cloth to clean it. Do not use soap, cleaning agents, abrasive materials, other chemicals or compressed air when cleaning your Galaxy Watch/Fit, and do not clean it with ultrasonic waves or external heat sources.
Cleanse the band with clean water, and then thoroughly dry and clean the band with a lint-free, soft cloth.
If you're experiencing unusual behaviour on Samsung mobiles, tablets or wearables, you can send us an error report or ask us a question in the Samsung Members app.
This allows us to take a closer look at what is happening. The data is anonymised and only held for the duration of the investigation. Find out more about sending an error report through the Samsung Members app.
