Meet the designers

WALK THE NIGHT

Carol Yang

Yang is an RMIT graduate with a masters in Fashion Design. Her work is one in a six part series titled 'Are you procrastinating?' With a message about fashion waste at its heart, it uses materials otherwise abandoned by the industry, and gives them a second life.

WALK THE NIGHT

Caroline Hegeman

An RMIT Fashion Design (hons) graduate, Hegeman’s work is titled ‘Eros’. The design you see here is one part of an extensive series of looks based around fluidity, encapsulated through colour contrast, stretch material and weighted silver embellishments.

WALK THE NIGHT

Kritikon Khamsawat

Khamsawat’s collection, ‘Ma Void’ draws upon a theme of space. The space between the wearer and the garment, the relationship between the person who wears the garment and the way in which that garment acts upon their body.

WALK THE NIGHT

Odile Zheng

Inspired by a dystopian world she experienced in her dream, Zheng’s work ‘Escape’ uses heat on polyester and knits to explore this hypothetical world. Covered faces and hoodies within the collection draw upon a theme of escapism within this universe.

WALK THE NIGHT

Nuoqi Shen

In designing Shen’s collection, her aim was to create something both unique and accessible. A contemporary outerwear collection with high-street and avant-garde influence, it looks past gender stereotypes and breaks down ‘gendered’ clothing norms.

WALK THE NIGHT

Ruby Pedder

At just 21, Pedder is a graduate of Design in Fashion and Textiles (hons) from UTS. Her collection, ‘Handle With Care’, is a collection of couture, art and satire. Inspired by the subversive and rebellious attitudes of the surrealist and riot grrrl movement of the 1990s, delicate art forms and silhouettes have been distorted and manipulated into explosive and abnormal forms, all hand stitched.

WALK THE NIGHT

Yongbin Zhang

Zhang’s ‘Pure Spirit’ draws inspiration from Chinese Peking Opera. Using spherical objects to create exaggerated silhouettes it’s a piece that comes to life in motion, resulting in playful bold visual expressions of positivity - an antidote to the difficult times the world is currently experiencing.

WALK THE NIGHT

Hugo Stynes

Stynes is a graduate of the Whitehouse Institute of Design. His collection, ‘What He Wore’ is influenced by personal spaces and private interiors, and its use of wool and natural fibers exudes a sense of warmth and nostalgia.
