Samsung earbud has a static noise

If you’re experiencing static noises when using one or both of your Galaxy Buds, such as the Galaxy Buds2 or earlier models, you can try a few things to solve the issue. You can check for updates to your earbuds as well as your connected phone or tablet to ensure your devices have the latest software version. Restarting and resetting your earbuds can also help clear any minor problems.
-
Check for software updates on your earbuds and connected device.
Make sure your earbuds and phone or tablet have the latest software version installed. If an issue occurs when using a certain app, such as Spotify, make sure the app is also up to date.
If you’re using your earbuds with a computer, TV, or watch, make sure to check for software updates on those devices as well.
-
Unpair your earbuds from your connected device.
Using your phone or tablet, navigate to Settings, and then tap Connections. Tap Bluetooth, and then tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) next to your earbuds' name. Tap Unpair, and then tap Unpair again to confirm.
If your earbuds were connected to the Galaxy Wearable app, unpairing them from Bluetooth will also remove them from the Wearable app.
-
Restart your earbuds.
Place your earbuds in the charging case and close the lid until the battery indicator light disappears. This may take up to 10 seconds. Make sure the earbuds are charged before removing them from the case. If the battery indicator light flashes red or orange, allow the earbuds to charge for more than 10 minutes.
-
Pair your earbuds to your device.
After you've unpaired your earbuds, you will need to reconnect them to both Bluetooth and the Galaxy Wearable app.
To do this, open the lid of the charging case. The earbuds will enter pairing mode and a pop-up message will appear on your phone or tablet. Tap Connect.
If the pop-up message doesn’t appear, you can use the Galaxy Wearable app. There are two methods:
- From the app, tap Menu (the three horizontal lines), and then tap + Add new device. Select your earbuds from the list, and then follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your devices.
- If no other devices are added to the Galaxy Wearable app, you may be brought to the initial setup screen instead. From here, you can select your buds from the list and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your buds.
-
Reset your earbuds.
If the static noise still occurs, you can try resetting the earbuds once they're connected to the Galaxy Wearable app.
From the app, tap Earbuds settings, tap General, and then tap Reset. Tap Reset again to confirm. Once the reset is complete, the earbuds will automatically enter pairing mode.
-
Reconnect your earbuds.
After resetting your earbuds, you will need to connect them to your phone or tablet again. You can repeat the same connection instructions detailed in step 4, such as using the Connect popup message or the Galaxy Wearable app.
-
Request service.
If you are still experiencing static noises when using one or both of your earbuds after following the above steps, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG to set up service.
Menu options may vary depending on the earbud model and software version. The original Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds2, and Galaxy Buds2 Pro are not compatible with the iOS Buds app.
