Samsung phone display is black and white

If your Galaxy phone screen looks black and white, like an old TV show, there could be a few reasons why. Bedtime, Dark mode, or Visibility enhancements mode functions may have been enabled by mistake. Turning these functions off will return the phone to normal.
Sleep mode
Sleep mode is designed to help reduce eye strain before sleeping and to prevent your sleep from being disturbed. When these modes are enabled, the screen on your phone will be in black and white, and most sounds will be muted. Because this feature operates on a schedule, it will automatically be applied if your phone is rebooted or powered on during the scheduled time.
- Open Settings, and then tap Modes and Routines.
- Swipe to and tap Sleep.
- Tap Turn off to disable sleep mode. You can also tap Change settings and disable Grayscale if you'd like to use the other features of Sleep mode.
Accessibility options
Some Accessibility options for people who are blind or have vision loss can cause the screen to be in black and white.
- Open Settings, and tap Accessibility.
- Tap Vision enhancements, and then tap Color adjustment.
- Tap Color correction and then tap the switch to turn off Color correction.
Dark mode
Dark mode reduces eye strain by applying a dark theme at night or in a dark place.
- Open Settings, and then tap Display.
- Tap Light to disable Dark mode.
You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick settings, and then tap the Dark mode icon to turn it on or off.
Note: On some models or software versions, Dark mode will be called Night mode.
