Set a Boundary for HMD Odyssey

The boundary is the area in which you can move around when wearing the HMD Odyssey to avoid accidents. It appears as a white outline inside the Mixed Reality when you come close to it. Learn how to set the boundary below.

Hold the HMD Odyssey at waist height and face towards the computer while tracing the boundary.

  • Do not cover the tracking sensor, or set an area close to walls or objects.
  • Do not set an area over 32 square feet, or one that is too broad or complicated.
  • Some apps and games may be designed to work with a boundary.
  • Visit Microsoft Support to view FAQs on boundaries in Windows Mixed Reality.

The boundary is created during the initial setup of Windows Mixed Reality with HMD Odyssey.

  1. Start the Mixed Reality Portal.

    From the desktop, select Start > Mixed Reality Portal.

  2. Run boundary setup.

    Select Menu (3 horizontal lines), and then select Run setup to create a new boundary.
