TV or projector does not show up during SmartThings discovery process

You can connect your TV, smart monitor, or projector to the SmartThings app without using a SmartThings Hub. If the app has trouble connecting or discovering your device, there are a few things you should check, like if Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Then, you can try adding your TV/projector to the SmartThings app again. A Samsung Account and internet connection are required.*
-
Check for updates.
Check for software updates on the phone and the SmartThings app. If necessary, update the firmware on the TV/projector.
-
Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Keep in mind that if your phone is using Power saving mode, it may turn off Bluetooth.
- To turn on Bluetooth on your phone, swipe down from the top of the screen using two fingers to open the Quick settings panel. The Bluetooth icon will glow blue when Bluetooth is enabled. If the icon is gray, it means Bluetooth is disabled; tap the icon to activate Bluetooth.
- Bluetooth is always enabled on your TV/projector, so you do not need to worry about it. Just make sure it is powered on when you're trying to connect a Bluetooth device to it.
- You can learn how to connect certain devices to your TV via Bluetooth using our guide.
-
Check the device range.
The phone should be within 30 feet of the TV/projector. Also, make sure that there are no obstacles, such as walls or electrical equipment, between the devices.
-
Restart the devices.
Restart both the phone and TV or projector, and then launch the SmartThings app on the phone again.
-
Open the SmartThings app.
On your phone, navigate to and open the SmartThings app. Tap the Devices tab, and then tap Add (the plus sign) in the top right corner.
-
Add your TV or projector.
Tap Add device and then tap the By brand tab. Tap Samsung, tap TV (projector), and then tap Start.
Follow the instructions for your model to complete the setup. If your TV requires a PIN, you can input the PIN shown on the TV screen into your phone, and then tap Done.
-
Repeat the steps or contact Samsung Support.
If you are still encountering any issues, please contact Samsung Support or visit a Samsung walk-in service center.
