Cannot Activate the SmartThings Hub

To add compatible SmartThings devices to the Wi-Fi Hub with the SmartThings app, the SmartThings Hub must be activated in the SmartThings app. You cannot activate a hub using a web browser. If the SmartThings Hub cannot be activated, there may be an issue with the SmartThings app or the Wi-Fi Hub. Try updating the app, uninstalling and reinstalling it, or removing the hub and adding it again.

  • STEP 1

Uninstall or reinstall the SmartThings apps

Some preloaded apps cannot be uninstalled.

  1. Open App Settings on the phone.

Navigate to Settings, and then swipe to and tap Apps.

  2. Uninstall the app.

Scroll to and tap the app you want to uninstall, and then tap Uninstall

Note: If you prefer, you can also swipe up to open the app drawer, touch and hold the app you want to remove, and then tap Uninstall in the box that appears above it. Tap OK in the pop-up to confirm.

  3. Reinstall the app.

If you want to reinstall the app, you can download it from either the Play Store or the Galaxy Store.
