No audio or poor sound quality from Samsung monitor

Many newer monitors include built-in speakers. If the monitor's speakers are not working, it's usually due to incorrectly configured settings or cables. There are a few things you can do to solve this issue, like checking your connections, adjusting the volume, performing a sound test, or playing sound using a device other than your monitor.
-
Run a sound test (if applicable).
Some monitor models come with a remote and work more like a TV. These models typically include a sound test which can be found by selecting Support, then Self Diagnosis, and then Sound Test.
- If the sound test passes, service is not required, but the following steps may help resolve the issue.
- If the sound test fails, visit our Support Center to request service.
If you receive a "Not Available" message on your screen, it means that the monitor is set to use external speakers but no external speakers are connected. In the Sound menu, navigate to Speaker Select, and set it to TV Speaker to use the monitor's built in speakers instead.
-
Check the volume setting on the monitor.
Using the monitor's controls, increase the volume, and then try to hear the audio again. The volume may have been too low or muted.
-
Check to see if the source device supports the HDMI 2.0 standard.
If it does not support it, you will need to change the Input Port Version on the monitor. Please use the following steps to change it.
The Input Port Version on the monitor can be changed by going into the Menu. From there, select Settings, and then Input Port Version. Select version 1.4.
-
Check the volume and settings on the connected device.
On the monitor's connected device (like a laptop), make sure the audio isn't muted, and then attempt to adjust the volume until it's at a high setting.
Depending on what you have connected, you should also make sure that it's set to send the audio signal to your monitor, and not somewhere else.
- If you're using a PC with Windows 10, left click the speaker icon on the taskbar. Confirm the desired speakers are selected, or click the name of the current speakers to switch to the desired ones. Click and drag the volume slider to adjust the volume or unmute the speakers (if the volume is set to 0, the speakers are muted). After adjusting the volume (unless you mute it), you should hear a chime.
- If you're using a Mac, navigate to the Menu, and then select System Preferences. Select Sound, select the Output tab, and then select your monitor. Deselect the Mute option if it's turned on, and then adjust the volume slider until you can hear the sound.
If your monitor is not listed as an output device, make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
-
Unplug and reconnect all the cables at both ends, and make sure they work.
Unplug all cables connected to the monitor at both ends of each cable. Then, plug all the cables back in again. Make sure to use cables that you know are working (by testing them with other devices, or using new cables).
When supported by both the monitor and the external device, the best type of cable to use is HDMI or Displayport, followed by DVI or VGA. Only one of these needs to be used per monitor, as well as its power cable.
-
Try to play sound from the same device, using something instead of your monitor.
Connect something else to your device instead of your monitor (like some speakers or headphones, or even a different monitor or TV) and see if the audio issue continues. If it does, then the monitor is not the cause of the issue.
-
Try to play sound on your monitor from something else, using the same port.
Find another device to connect to your monitor, using the same type of connection (and a cable that works). If your monitor can play audio from any other device using the same port as the first device, then the monitor is not the cause of the issue.
-
Request service.
If the monitor's speakers still have no sound or poor sound quality, visit the Support Center to request service.
