The only time you would get an error message is when the Blu-ray player or home theater cannot play the disc. This could be due to copyright protection, a required firmware update, or an issue with the disc.

Audio outputs temporarily muted. Do not adjust the playback volume...

This Blu-ray Disc has been manufactured to the latest Blu-ray Disc standards.

This is not an error message from your Blu-ray player, it is a message from the disc's authors to serve as a reminder to make sure that you keep your Blu-ray player up to date. Some features of the disc (or in rare cases for the newest movies, the entire disc) may not be available until the player's firmware is updated, although this message can still appear even if the firmware is already up to date.

The disc cannot play

If the disc will not play, it is likely because it is dirty, damaged, from a different region, or the BD Live internet connection is lagging.
