Screen mirroring on Family Hub keeps disconnecting

Samsung Family Hub refrigerator with screen mirrored to TV

The screen mirroring function on your Family Hub can be fixed in a few ways, such as performing a power cycle for the Hub and TV, checking the Wi-Fi network, and checking the Mobile Device List on the TV.

If the TV is not listed in Family Hub's connection list, make sure it is on the same Wi-Fi network as Family Hub and that the TV's model is supported. The supported model list is in our guide for screen mirroring on Family Hub.

  1. Try a power cycle.

Turn off the Family Hub panel. The switch is located under a cover, inside the top of the door with the Family Hub panel.

Unplug the TV, and then wait two minutes. Turn the Family Hub panel back on again.  Plug the TV back in, power it back on, and try pairing again.

  2. Only use the 2.4Ghz network and give the 5Ghz network a different name.

If more than one network is "remembered" on the Family Hub,  it may jump between networks when minor fluctuations in signal strength occur. This jumping can also occur if the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network both have the same name and password.

Since TV mirroring requires that you stay on the same network that the TV is using, forget every other network on Family Hub. To do this, go to Settings, select Connections, and then select Wi-Fi. Select the network to forget, and then tap Forget.

2.4Ghz networks can reach farther and work better through obstructions like walls. The TV and the Family Hub cannot be more than 10 meters apart (about 33 feet), and that distance is reduced if there are walls in the way.

  3. Review the Mobile Device List on the TV.

Navigate to Settings, and select General. Select External Device Manager, and then select Device Connect Manager. (Some TV models may have a different menu configuration.)

Check the Access Notification item in the menu and see if Always on is selected. Check the Device List in the menu, and make sure [Refrigerator] Samsung is set to Allowed.

If these were already the settings, and the fridge still won't connect, then clear the Device List. Select all, and then delete the registered devices. Then, try to connect the fridge again.

  4. Request service.
