SmartThings Wi-Fi Hub Hardware Test Failed

If you are experiencing issues with SmartThings Wifi or Connect Home, you can perform a hardware test to see if the issue is hardware-related. Keep reading to learn how to perform the hardware test.

During the hardware test, the following functions and connections are tested:

  • Basic Function: The LED light, fan, and thermistor
  • Normal Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ethernet
  • IoT Connectivity: Z-Wave and ZigBee
  1. Power off and then restart the Hub.

Disconnect the power and Ethernet cables from your Wi-Fi Hub, but do not unplug any sub-hubs you may have. Reconnect only the power cable, and then wait for the LED to blink red and green. Once the LED blinks, use a small tool to press the RESET button for 3 seconds.

If the Hub was already set up, wait for the LED to blink green before pressing the RESET button.
  2. Perform the hardware test.

The hardware test will begin soon after releasing the RESET button. The LED will blink green during the hardware test. After the test, the LED light will indicate the test's results.

    • Red, Blue, and Green (repeatedly): Hardware test passed.
    • Red (repeatedly): Hardware test failed.

If the hardware test fails or if the issue still continues, service may be required. Please visit the Support Center or SmartThings Support to request service.
