
Custom DNS with SmartThings Wifi

DNS configuration in the Plume app allows you to create a custom DNS for your SmartThings network. You can use a public DNS that isn't monitored by your internet service provider.
Complete the steps in this guide to create a custom DNS for your SmartThings network.

This is only applicable for SmartThings Wifi.

If you don't have the Plume app, you can download it from the Play Store. The Plume app is required for this feature.

Navigate to the Wi-Fi Hub's Location in SmartThings.
Open the SmartThings app on your mobile device, and then tap the Menu (three horizontal lines) on the left. Tap the Location drop down menu under your account name and email, and then tap the location of your Hub. Now, select the name of the SmartThings Wifi Hub on the device card.

Set custom DNS settings.
Tap Advanced settings in Plume > Menu (three horizontal lines), and then tap Advanced Settings. The network must be set to Router Only Mode for this feature. Tap Network Mode > Router Only Mode, and then tap Restart. It will take a few moments for the router to restart.

Set custom DNS settings.
Tap DNS, and then tap the slider next to Custom DNS. Tap Secondary to add a secondary DNS. Enter it, and then tap DONE.
