NAT (Network Address Translation) technology is used to convert private IP addresses into public addresses. A "double NAT" connection is when you use two routers that support NAT. You can create a double NAT connection using a Samsung Connect Home hub and another router.
Users typically do not experience issues while using a double NAT connection. However, issues may occur while using features like Port forwarding or UPnP. If you experience an issue, try the solutions below.
-
Create a private network using just Connect Home.
If you create a single private network that covers the entire area, you should not experience any issues.
-
If you can't remove your existing router (e.g., a modem), perform the following:
If your router was provided by your internet service, you can change it to bridge mode. This means that your router will only act as a modem.
- It is recommended that you set your existing router to bridge mode.
- If you are not using Connect Home, call your internet service provider, so they can set your router to bridge mode for you.
- If you are using Connect Home, learn how to set up Connect Home bridge mode. Set the Connect Home Hub to Bridge Mode. However, some network features, such as Port forwarding, will be unavailable.
