Cannot manage SmartThings routines with Samsung smartwatch

SmartThings allows you to run certain routines or actions at a designated time. However, there is a limit to how much you can manage and control routines on a Samsung smart watch.

Even if you have SmartThings installed on your watch, routines can only be created on the paired phone. On the watch itself, you can only turn routines or scenes on or off.

  1. Open the SmartThings app on the watch.

From the watch's Home screen, press the Power key, and then navigate to and tap SmartThings.

  2. Turn a routine on or off.

Swipe to and tap All scenes, and then tap the switch to turn on or off.

The watch will only display routine notifications when the following conditions are met:

    • The watch has an active network or Bluetooth connection, and Power saving mode is disabled.
    • The routine was created in the SmartThings app on the phone and the action is set to notify the user.
    • The Galaxy Wearable app has notifications turned on for the SmartThings app on the watch.

  3. Restart the watch.

If you experience issues with turning routines on or off on your watch, restart the watch. You may have to uninstall SmartThings and then reinstall it.
