Cannot connect Samsung Pay to Samsung smart watch

If Samsung Pay isn't working properly on your Samsung smart watch, the issue is most likely the Samsung Pay plug-in. You can uninstall and reinstall the plug-in as well as the Galaxy Wearable app, and then try connecting again.
Before you perform a reset, make sure you back up the data on your watch using the Galaxy Wearable app. Samsung is not responsible for any lost data. To use Samsung Pay on your smart watch with a non-Samsung phone, you must update to Android 6.0 or higher.
-
Unpair the watch from your phone.
Navigate to and open Settings on your phone. Tap Connections, and then tap Bluetooth. From the Paired devices list, tap the Settings (gear) icon next to your watch name, and then tap Unpair.
-
Reset your watch.
From the watch's Home screen, navigate to and tap Settings. You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel, and then tap the Settings icon.
Next, swipe to and tap General, and then tap Reset. Then, tap Reset to confirm.
-
Uninstall Galaxy Wearable.
Navigate to and open the Apps screen on your phone. Touch and hold the Galaxy Wearable app, and then tap Uninstall. Tap OK.
To uninstall the plugin, navigate to and open Settings, and then tap Apps. Find the plugin for your watch (e.g. Galaxy Watch Active2), then tap it, and then tap Uninstall. Tap OK to confirm.
Depending on your carrier, you may not be able to uninstall the Galaxy Wearable app. Instead, tap the Galaxy Wearable app in the list, tap Force stop, and then tap Storage. Tap Clear data, and then tap OK. Repeat this process for the plugin.
-
Uninstall the Samsung Pay plug-in.
Navigate to and open Settings on your phone. Swipe to and tap Apps, and then swipe to tap either Samsung Pay (Watch plug-in) or Samsung Pay (Gear plug-in). Now, tap Uninstall, and then tap OK to confirm.
-
Reinstall the Galaxy Wearable app.
Navigate to and open either the Galaxy Store or Play Store on your phone. Search for and select Galaxy Wearable, and then tap Install.
-
Reconnect your watch and phone, and then check for software updates.
Open the Galaxy Wearable app, and then tap Start. Select your watch from the list, and then follow the prompts to reconnect your devices.
- Wear OS models, Galaxy Watch3, and Galaxy Watch Active2: Tap Watch settings, and then tap Watch software update. If an update is available, tap either Download and install or INSTALL.
- Previous models: From the Home tab, swipe to and tap Watch software update, and then tap Download and install. If an update is available, tap INSTALL.
-
Install the Samsung Pay plug-in, and then set up Samsung Pay.
- From the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone, navigate to and open Samsung Pay. The steps will be different depending on what watch model you have connected:
- Wear OS models: Tap Apps, tap App settings, and then tap Samsung Wallet.
- Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Watch Active2: Tap Apps, and then tap Manage apps. Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) next to Samsung Pay.
- Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active: Tap the Home tab, and then swipe to and tap Samsung Pay in the middle of the screen.
- This will prompt your phone to install the plug-in. If needed, tap Samsung Pay again and allow all permissions.
-
Set up Samsung Pay.
Once Samsung Pay is installed, add a payment card or import a card you previously added.
If you're prompted to create a watch PIN, do so. Samsung Pay will not work without a PIN set as a security measure.
If the option to open Samsung Pay doesn't appear, continue to check for software updates to your watch and the Galaxy Wearable app. Service is not required.
