Samsung microwave does not turn on or turns off by itself

If your microwave is not turning on, or if it is turning off by itself, it could have overheated. When a microwave has been in use for a long time and overheats, just give it 30 minutes to cool off and then try to use it again. Otherwise, you'll need to check the light, the outlet, and the power cord.
-
Inspect the light.
If the microwave's interior light is dim, it may look like the microwave is off when it really isn't.
- The light inside the microwave will appear dim when looking through the tinted door. If the light comes on when you open the door, then it is working correctly.
- If the light does not come on when you open the door and the microwave has power, then the light should be replaced.
If the instructions to replace the light are not in your user manual, visit our Support Center to request service instead.
-
Inspect the outlet.
A faulty outlet can prevent the microwave from turning on or cause it to turn off by itself. To fix this:
- Check the circuit breaker for the microwave to see if it has been tripped.
- Test another device in the outlet to see if it is working.
-
Check the microwave's power cord and plug.
Look for any damage to the cord (cracks, fraying, chafing) or the plug.
- If the circuit breaker trips again while the microwave is unplugged, the problem is with your house's wiring. Contact an electrician for assistance.
- If the wiring has been damaged, or the circuit breaker does not trip with the microwave unplugged, visit our Support Center to request service.
Samsung does not recommend using extension cords, GFI outlets, or surge protectors with home appliances.
Electrical repairs should be performed by a licensed electrician.
