Electric cooktop is peeling, bubbling, or cloudy under the surface

The smooth sleek finish of your electric or induction cooktop surface can put a real shine in your kitchen, but if not taken care of properly, stains and other marks can easily mar its surface.
-
Clean the cooktop.
Most marks can be cleaned away, even if they feel smooth to the touch or look like they're underneath the surface. First, try cleaning the cooktop anyway to see if you can get the mark away after all.
It does take some effort, they do not come out easily, but they can be cleaned off.
-
Make sure the stain is not just the pattern in the glass.
There is actually a grid-like layer between the cooktop surface and the burner, so if it appears like the burner element has a pattern to it, this is completely normal and does not indicate a defect in the glass.

Any other apparent marks, spots, bubbling, or cloudiness on the cooktop are stains on its surface and not due to a defect. Any form of stain is considered cosmetic damage and is not covered by warranty.
Most stains can be cleaned even if they don't look like they can be (see step 1). However, if the stain cannot be removed by cleaning, then the only way to remove the stain is to replace the entire cooktop surface. Often buying a new cooktop or range is a more viable alternative.
