Video distorted on the edge of a Samsung phone screen

Because of your phone's design, it may look like images or videos are distorted near your screen's edges or the edges can appear to have a green, blue, or yellow tint. This can occur due to the nature of the curved edges or a phenomenon called White Angular Dependency, which can cause the curved sections of the screen to appear darker or tinted. This is a normal phenomenon that happens with Organic LEDs.

Color balance and Advanced options are only available if the Adaptive display option is selected, and Color adjustment is disabled in Accessibility settings.

If you are using a Galaxy S8, you can modify or adjust the edge screen color balance.

  1. Navigate to Settings.

From the Home screen, swipe up to access the Apps Screen, and tap Settings. You can also open the Notification panel, and tap the Settings icon.

  2. Find Screen Mode.

Using the search bar at the top of Settings, search for and select Screen mode. Make sure the screen mode is set to Adaptive display.

  3. Touch Screen edge color balance.

Scroll to the bottom of the page, and tap Advanced settings. Adjust the sliders to your preferred setting.
