Recover messages deleted from your Galaxy phone

1
Check the Trash in Samsung Messages.

You can restore deleted messages directly from the Trash.

Navigate to and open the Samsung Messages app, then tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Trash. Touch and hold the message you’d like to recover. You can also tap All to select all messages in the Trash. Then, tap Restore or Restore all.

2
Use Samsung Cloud.

Samsung Cloud can be used to recover your messages.

Navigate to and open Settings, then tap Accounts and backup, and then tap Restore data under Samsung Cloud. Select your desired device, then select Messages, and then tap Restore. Tap Done when it's finished.

Note
You can only restore messages that have been previously backed up with Samsung Cloud.
3
Use another backup option.

Several other backup options are available on your Galaxy phone.

  • Automatic backup: Enable this feature to have your device backup data automatically. To find this, open Settings, then tap your account name at the top of the screen, and then tap Samsung Cloud. Select Back up data, and then tap the switch next to Auto back up while roaming.

  • Google Drive: Google Drive syncs your data across devices logged into the same Google account. To find this, open Settings, then tap Accounts and backup, and then tap Back up data under Google Drive. Make sure Backup by Google One is enabled, and then tap Back up now.

  • MicroSD card: You can use the My Files app to back up to a microSD card.

  • Smart Switch: Back up and transfer content between Galaxy phones or from your phone to a PC or Mac.
