Samsung PC turns on, but only when charging

If your Samsung PC doesn't power on without connecting the charger, a faulty or dead battery may be the cause. Different factors like daily usage, background processes, heat exposure, malware, and other factors can drain the battery faster causing the battery to lose the ability to hold a charge over time. Follow the steps in this guide to try and fix the problem.

Samsung PC turns on, but only when charging

1
Turn off the PC.

If the PC turns on but the battery will not charge, then shut down the PC.

With the charger unplugged, remove the battery and reinsert it (applicable models only). Some models have a removable battery. If yours does, then disconnect the charger and the battery for 30 seconds, and then place the battery back in.

2
Charge the PC.
Sometimes Windows can prevent charging. Connect the charger and let the computer charge while it’s turned off and until the battery is fully charged.
3
Disconnect the charger, and then power on the PC.
Disconnect the charger, and then press the Power button to turn on the computer.
4
Request service.
If the battery does not charge when the computer is off, or if the computer cannot be used without connecting the charger, visit our Support Center to request service.
