Use camera features on your Galaxy S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra
Launch the Camera app
There are a few ways to launch the Camera app on your Galaxy S25 series phone.
- From the Home screen: You can directly open the Camera app by tapping the Camera icon located on the Home screen.
- From the Lock screen: While the phone is locked, you can swipe up from the Camera shortcut icon on the Lock screen to immediately launch the Camera app without unlocking the phone.
- From the Apps screen: You can navigate to the Apps screen and locate the Camera app icon. Tap the Camera icon to launch the Camera app.
- Double press the Side button: You can launch the Camera app by double pressing the Side button. Keep in mind that this option will need to be set in advance. To do so, navigate to Settings, then tap Advanced features, and then tap Side button. Tap Double press, and then tap the switch at the top of the screen to turn it on. Tap Camera, and then select Open Camera.
Change shooting methods and modes
Set your shooting method
Swipe up from the bottom of your phone’s screen to access the Apps screen, and then open the Camera app. Tap the Quick controls icon (the four dots), then tap the Settings icon, and then tap Shooting methods. The following will be available:
- Press Volume buttons to: Select Take pictures or record video, Zoom in or out, or Control sound volume.
Note: If Press Volume buttons to is set to Take pictures or record videos, sound cannot be adjusted when recording videos. - Voice commands: You can take pictures or record videos using preset commands.
- Floating Shutter button: Enable this to take pictures using a second Shutter button that you can position anywhere on the screen.
- Show palm: Take selfies when showing the palm of your hand to the camera.
After you’ve chosen a shooting mode, tap Back twice to return to the viewfinder.
Pick a shooting mode
You can easily switch between shooting modes at the bottom of the Camera app’s screen. For instance, you can select Night mode to capture photos in dim lighting without using the flash.
- Open the Camera app, and then look for the available shooting modes at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe left or right to browse through the shooting modes, and then tap a mode to select it.
- The selected shooting mode will be highlighted, indicating that it is currently active. Below is a list of available shooting modes:
- Portrait: Add and adjust background effects for photos.
- Photo: Take photos and allow the camera to determine the ideal settings for pictures.
- Video: Record videos and allow the camera to determine the ideal settings for videos.
- More: Choose other available shooting modes. To add a mode to the bottom of the app’s screen, tap Edit, and then drag the desired mode to the bottom. Tap Save.
- Pro: Manually adjust the ISO sensitivity, exposure value, white balance, and color tone while taking pictures.
- Pro Video: Manually adjust the ISO sensitivity, exposure value, white balance, and color tone while taking videos.
- Portrait Video: Add and adjust background effects for portrait videos.
- Panorama: Create a linear image by taking pictures in either a horizontal or vertical direction.
- Dual Rec: Record a video using the rear and front cameras simultaneously.
- Food: Take pictures that emphasize the vivid colors of food.
- Night: Use this to take photos in low-light conditions without using the flash.
- Slow Motion: Record videos at a high frame rate for viewing in slow motion.
- Hyperlapse: Create a time lapse video by recording at various frame rates. The frame rate is adjusted depending on the scene being recorded and the movement of the device.
Zoom in and out
Even if you’re a few hundred feet away from something, you can still get an amazing shot by zooming in closer to the object. You’ll be able to capture every detail when taking photos and recording videos. Zooming past 10x on your Galaxy S25 series phone will enable the Space Zoom feature, which captures shots using up to 100x magnification.
- To get started, open the Camera app, and then tap PHOTO.
- Select the rear camera, and then pinch the screen with your fingers to zoom in. You can also tap the options at the bottom to zoom in and out.
- When zooming in past 10x, Space Zoom automatically engages and a thumbnail of your target will appear in the corner of the screen. Once you start zooming in even more, you can use this thumbnail as a guide to center your shot.
Not only can you zoom in to capture photos, but you can also use your phone's zoom to capture sounds! With the Zoom-in mic feature, every sound is increased as you zoom in while filming. This feature should be on by default but you can check it to make sure. From the Camera app, tap the Quick controls icon (the four dots), then tap the Settings icon, and then tap Advanced video options. Tap the switch next to Zoom-in mic.
You can also use a variety of sound options in Pro Video mode. These microphone settings will make voices and subtle noises easier to hear.
Quick controls and tools
Different camera tools are available to assist you when taking photos and videos on your Galaxy S25 series phone. From the Camera app, tap the Quick controls icons (the four dots), and then select from the following icons and options:
- Settings: Open the Camera’s Settings menu.
- Flash: Enable or disable the flash or automatic flash.
- Timer: Set a timer for taking pictures and videos.
- Ratio: Select your desired aspect ratio.
- Resolution: Select your desired resolution.
- Motion photo: Turn motion photos on or off. This allows you to capture a short video clip of the action right before releasing the Capture button.
- Exposure: Use the slider to select your desired exposure.
- Filters: Select your desired filter or download new filters from the Galaxy Store. You can also adjust the filter’s strength, color temperature, contrast, saturation, and film grain.
- Face: Enable this option to adjust your selfies.
Access the Camera settings
The Camera app’s Settings menu lets you configure your preferred options. From the Camera app, tap the Quick controls icons (the four dots), and then tap the Settings icon. The following settings will be available:
Intelligent features
- Scan documents and text: Automatically show a button when a document is detected to scan it. Tap the option to enable Auto scanning, which will scan a document without a tap. You'll also have the option to remove unwanted objects, in case your fingers are in the frame.
- Scan QR codes: Automatically detects QR codes when using the camera.
- Shot suggestions: Get on-screen guides to help you line up great shots.
- Intelligent optimization: Set the quality optimization options to prioritize quality or speed in Photo mode. You can also enable Scene optimizer to automatically adjust exposure, contrast, white balance, and more based on what is detected in the camera frame. The Scene optimizer is only available when using the rear camera.
Pictures
- Swipe Shutter button to: Choose to either take a burst shot or create a GIF when you swipe the shutter to the nearest edge.
- Watermark: Place a watermark on your photos. You can select the information included in the watermark as well.
- Advanced picture options: Choose how you would like to save images.
Selfies
- Save selfies as previewed: Save selfies as they appear in the preview without flipping them.
- Swipe up/down to switch cameras: Switch between the front and rear cameras with just a swipe.
Videos
- Auto FPS: Automatically record brighter videos in low-light conditions by optimizing the frame rate.
- Video stabilization: Activate anti-shake to keep the focus steady when the camera is moving.
- Advanced video options: Enhance your videos with advanced recording formats. Available options include High efficiency videos, High bitrate videos, HDR videos, Zoom-in mic, 360 audio recording, and Audio playback.
General
- Tracking auto focus: Keep a moving subject in focus.
- Composition guide: Display a level and viewfinder grid lines to help compose a picture or video.
- Location tags: Attach a GPS location tag to your pictures and videos.
- Shooting methods: There are a few different methods you can choose from and enable, such as Press Volume buttons to, Voice commands, Floating Shutter button, and Show palm.
- Settings to keep: Choose whether to use the same shooting settings as the last time, such as the shooting mode, selfie angle, and filters.
- Shutter sound: Play a tone when taking a picture.
- Vibration feedback: Enable vibrations when tapping the screen in the Camera app.
Privacy
- Permissions: View the Camera's permissions.
- Reset settings: Reset the Camera’s settings.
- About Camera: View app and software information.
- Contact us: Contact Samsung support through Samsung Members (if supported by your carrier).
Use Bixby Vision
Bixby Vision can help you learn more about your surroundings. It’s built into the Camera app so you can scan an item or text using the viewfinder.
From the Camera app, tap MORE, and then tap the Bixby Vision icon (the eye). Allow the permissions if prompted, and then select from the following:
- Translate: Point the camera at a selection of text to automatically translate it into a different language. You can select your desired language at the top of the screen.
- Text: Point the camera at a selection of text to automatically capture an image of it and then select it. You can copy, translate, or share the text.
- Discover: Point the camera at something and see similar things on Pinterest.
- Wine: See the bottle’s rating or learn more about the vineyard it came from.
- Scene Describer: Point the camera at something to hear an audio description of it.
- Object Identifier: Point the camera at an object or item to hear an audio description of it.
- Text Reader: Point the camera at a selection of text to hear an audio playback of the text.
- Color Detector: Point the camera at something to hear what color it is.
Use Galaxy Avatar
You’ll be able to create a personalized Galaxy Avatar with your Galaxy S25 series phone and then take photos with it!
- Navigate to and open Settings, then tap Advanced features, and then tap Galaxy Avatar.
- Tap Avatar Camera, and then tap the screen when prompted to create a new avatar. You can create your avatar using the Camera app or an image from the Gallery app. You can also choose from premade avatars at the top of the screen.
- Allow the permissions if prompted and follow the instructions to create your avatar.
- Next, take a photo using your avatar image. You can select from Scene, Mask, Mirror, or Play at the bottom of the screen.
- If you’d like to change up your avatar, tap the Edit avatar icon (the person).
- You can change the photo’s color by tapping the Change background icon (the paint can).
- Once your photo has been captured, you can view it by tapping the Gallery thumbnail or by opening the Gallery app.
Camera Share
The Camera Share feature lets you turn your Galaxy S25 series phone into a portable webcam, so you can take video calls from anywhere.
- Navigate to and open Settings, then tap Connected devices, and then tap Camera Share.
- Tap the switch at the top to enable the feature.
- Then, start a video call using your preferred app, such as Google Meet.
