Use a USB Type-C cable or adapter with a phone or tablet
The different kinds of cables and adapters
Check out the following information to learn about the cable and adapter that comes with your Galaxy.
USB Type-C cable
This type of cable is included with all newer Galaxy phones and tablets, while older phones will use a different kind of cable. You can use the cable to charge your phone or connect it to a computer.
A USB Type-C cable is reversible, meaning it can be plugged in either way. The reversible design of a USB Type-C cable helps prevent damage from occurring inside the USB port.
Important: We do not recommend using a Dual USB Type-C adapter with your Galaxy phone or tablet because it can cause issues.
Type-A to Type-C adapter
Some USB charging cables have a Type-C connector on one end and a Type-A connector on the other.
For compatibility purposes, a Type-A to Type-C adapter was included with some phones. For example, maybe you want to connect your phone to a Mac laptop that has Type-C ports instead of Type-A ports. Simply plug the cable into the adapter, and you'll be able to connect your phone to the Mac.
Type-A to Type-C adapter attached to USB
The Type-A to Type-C adapter also supports USB-OTG. In other words, you can connect a flash drive to the adapter, and then plug it into your Galaxy phone or tablet to transfer files.
