It's important to note that Samsung Pay/Samsung Wallet is compatible only with select phone and watch models. For watch users with non-Samsung phones, Android 6.0 or higher is required.

Before using Samsung Wallet

Note
Samsung Wallet is available for devices running Android 9 or higher.

The following are required to use Samsung Wallet:

  • A Samsung phone or compatible watch
  • NFC (Near Field Communication) or MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) support
  • An active Samsung account
  • A credit, debit, or gift card from a supported bank, credit union, or vendor
  • A registered fingerprint or Samsung Wallet PIN
  • Residence in a country supported by your bank for card verification

Set up Samsung Wallet on your phone

Note
Samsung Wallet is available for devices running Android 9 or higher.

Samsung Wallet often comes pre-installed on compatible devices, but if necessary, it can be reinstalled. Start the app, create a PIN, and follow prompts to add your payment cards.

Once it's installed, open Samsung Wallet, and then tap Get started. Enter a new PIN for Samsung Wallet, and then enter it again to confirm.

 

If it's your first time using Samsung Pay/Wallet, you may be asked to add payment cards.

Set up Samsung Wallet on your watch

To use Samsung Wallet on your Galaxy watch, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and make sure your watch is connected to the app.
  2. The next step will vary slightly based on what watch model you have:
    • Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch6 series: Tap Watch settings, and then tap Pay.
    • Galaxy Watch4 series: Tap Watch settings, and then tap Apps. Tap App settings, and then tap Samsung Pay.
    • Galaxy Watch3 and Galaxy Watch Active2: Tap Apps, and then tap Manage apps. Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) next to Samsung Pay.
    • Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active: Tap the Home tab, and then swipe to and tap Samsung Pay in the middle of the screen.
  3. You may be prompted to sign into your Samsung account, allow the necessary permissions, and download the latest plugin. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. From here, you can add or import cards to your connected watch. Tap Add card to start registering cards now, or tap Later to do it another time.
  5. If you decide to add cards now, you will need to set up a PIN on your watch. In the Galaxy Wearable app, tap Set PIN, and then enter a PIN on your watch. Enter it again to confirm, and then tap Next on your phone. You can begin adding cards now.

    Note: You can skip this step if you plan to add your cards later on.
  6. To access Samsung Pay/Wallet on the watch itself, press and hold the Back button.
  7. When the app opens, swipe to the left to view the basic instructions. Then, tap the arrow to finish setting up the feature.
  8. Tap Add card. If this doesn’t appear, tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Add (the plus sign).

  9. If you haven't already set up a PIN for Samsung Wallet on your watch, tap TURN ON, and follow the on-screen prompts.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your debit or credit cards to Samsung Wallet.
  11. Whenever you want to access Samsung Wallet on your watch, just press and hold the Back button. Your registered card(s) will appear, and you can use them to make purchases.

Enhanced security with biometric verification

Iris scan is only available on certain phones.

Samsung Wallet offers advanced security features to protect your account, including fingerprint and iris scan options on certain models. You can activate this feature through Samsung Wallet’s settings.

 

Open Samsung Wallet, then tap the All tab, and then tap More options (the three vertical dots). Tap Settings, then tap Verification method, and then tap the switch next to Fingerprint or Irises. Once you have chosen a security option, follow the on-screen instructions to set up either Fingerprint or Iris verification. If you don't have a Lock screen set up, you may be required to set one up for your phone.
