We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying information. Card activation and identity verification is required before you can use the Card Account. My account
If I successfully open my Samsung Pay Cash Account, how do I add it to Samsung Wallet?
Once you successfully open Samsung Pay Cash, it is automatically added to Samsung Wallet on your device.
Why is my Samsung Pay Cash Account labeled as “Lite”?
A Lite account is an account that lets you immediately try out Samsung Pay Cash to add funds, send funds through P2P, and make online and in store purchases after providing limited personal information. It is the first step in fully registering your Card Account for full access. The Lite label on Samsung Pay Cash indicates that your Card Account is not yet registered. While your account is labeled Lite, you will only be able to add or receive funds one time, send money via P2P, and spend money using Samsung Pay or your virtual account. Until you register your Card Account, you will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined for Unregistered Card Accounts within the Cardholder Agreement. Registering your account will unlock the ability to add or receive additional funds, access your bank transfer/direct deposit information, and request money from other Samsung Pay/Wallet users.
See How do I upgrade from a Lite to a Full Card Account? for additional information.
What does it mean to upgrade and why should I do it?
Upgrading your Samsung Pay Cash Account* means that you are registering your Card Account with more specific identification information. The federal government requires information to provide full access to certain financial products and services. By adding your birth date and Social Security number* to your registration, and successfully verifying your identity, you will have access to the Full Card Account and be able to take advantage of its full range of uses.
How do I upgrade from a Lite to a Full Card Account?*
You can begin the registration process from within your Samsung Wallet app to upgrade Samsung Pay Cash. On the Card details screen, tap More options (the three vertical dots) in the upper-right corner, and then tap Upgrade account. You will be able to verify your existing information, and update it if need be, as well as provide your Social Security number and date of birth*. In some cases, you may be prompted to upgrade your Card Account as a condition of trying to add more money to your Card Account, or trying to send, receive, or request money. Simply follow the prompts to upgrade your Card Account. Once upgraded, you will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined for a Registered Card Account* within the Cardholder Agreement.
What information will I be asked to provide to register my Card Account?*
To upgrade Samsung Pay Cash, we will need to verify your identity.* You will be requested to provide the following:
- Legal first and last name as it appears on your state-issued driver’s license or identification card
- Physical street address (and apartment number if applicable)
- Zip code of your physical address
- Social Security number
- Date of Birth
- Email address
For your convenience, we will prefill the form with the same information you provided when you opened your Card Account, but you are able to update any information that may have changed before attempting verification.
I attempted to register my Card Account, but my identity wasn’t successfully verified. What happens now?
Sometimes we are not able to automatically verify an individual’s identity.* You will receive an email with instructions on how to submit identifying documentation for manual review so that we may attempt to successfully verify your identity. If you have never received an email with additional instructions, please contact customer service by emailing customerservice@samsungpaycash.com or by calling 1-800-270-4169.
What if I mistype or need to use a different mobile phone number than the one I originally entered?
If you need to either correct or use a different mobile phone number, you can do so by tapping Change Phone Number on the Verify Phone Number screen.
When I try to open a Samsung Pay Cash Account, I’m seeing an error under the phone number field of “This phone number is not eligible at this time.” What does that mean?
You will receive this message if the mobile phone number you are attempting to use is already associated with an open Samsung Pay Cash Account. You will either need to use a different mobile phone number or contact customer service by emailing customerservice@samsungpaycash.com or calling 1-800-270-4169.
What is a Virtual Account?
A Virtual Account can be used for online or over-the-phone payments where Samsung Pay is not a payment option, and you are prompted to enter credit/debit card information. Simply provide the merchant with your Virtual Account number, expiration date, and security code at checkout to complete your purchase.
How do I access the Virtual Account for Samsung Pay Cash?
Locate Samsung Pay Cash within the Samsung Wallet app. From the Card details page, tap View info next to Virtual Account Number to view details.
I need to update my address, email address, or mobile phone number associated with my Card Account. Can I update it without calling customer service?
To update your address, email address, or mobile phone number, from the Manage Account menu, tap Account Profile. If you wish to update the mobile phone number associated with your Card Account, you will need to verify a one-time code sent to that new number before the change will take effect.
Where can I go to find the routing number and account number for my Card Account?
If you have successfully registered your Card Account*, from the Card details screen, tap More options (the three vertical dots) on the upper-right side, and then tap Manage account. On the Manage account screen, tap Direct Deposit Info.

Transaction information
Does Samsung Pay Cash require a PIN at the register?
Because every payment or purchase is authenticated by using your Samsung Wallet PIN, fingerprint, or iris scan, a PIN is not generally required when using Samsung Pay Cash. Some merchants may have terminals that require a PIN to complete a debit transaction. If required, enter 0000 to complete the transaction.
Can I withdraw money from my Samsung Pay Cash Account?
You may withdraw cash from participating merchants or banks that have contactless point of sale (POS) devices accepting Samsung Pay. Look for Mastercard, Cirrus, or PULSE acceptance marks to check if the merchant or bank is a participant. If the merchant or POS device prompts for a PIN to complete the transaction, enter 0000. Withdrawal limits apply depending on the merchant and bank, see Cardholder Agreement for details.
If your Card Account balance is $1.00 or more, you may also request funds to be mailed via check at account closure. A Check Request Fee may apply, see Cardholder Agreement for details.
How do I view my Samsung Pay Cash transaction history?
There are two ways to view your transaction history.
- On the Card details screen, you will see All Activity and Transactions tabs. All Activity provides a 30-day view of activity across all devices associated with Samsung Pay Cash. This includes P2P activity, money added from a debit or credit card, and bank transfers/direct deposit and purchase transactions. The Transactions tab provides a 30-day view of purchase transactions made with the device you are currently using.
- Additionally, you can tap More options (the three vertical dots) in the upper-right corner, and tap Manage account. From the Manage account screen, tap Transactions or Statements.
How can I cancel a payment to someone?
Most payments sent to other Samsung Pay Cash account holders will complete immediately and cannot be canceled. Payments sent to people who do not yet have a Samsung Pay Cash Account or a LITE Samsung Pay Cash Account that must be upgraded to receive the payment will be put in a Pending status. While the payment is in a Pending status, you can tap Cancel Transfer to cancel the payment. Upon cancellation, the amount of the payment will be added back to your available balance.
How can I dispute a transaction?
If you have an issue with a transaction appearing on your Card Account and need to file a dispute, tap Manage Account and then tap File Disputes. You may also file a dispute by calling 1-800-270-4169 or emailing us at disputedocuments@samsungpaycash.com. You may only file a dispute on transactions that have settled on your Card Account and cannot be in a pending state. If you are unsure what type of dispute you should choose, tap “Not sure which type of dispute to file?” for a detailed explanation of each type.
However, it is important to upgrade your Card Account as soon as possible. Until you successfully upgrade, we are not required to research or resolve any errors regarding your Card Account and will only do so at our discretion.
