Galaxy phones and tablets dust and water resistance (IP rating)
- The water resistance of your Samsung Galaxy device is not permanent and may diminish over time because of normal wear and tear.
- Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and device model.
- The touch screen may not be active if wet.
- If you have an S Pen, it does not need to be inserted to maintain the IP68 rating. The S Pen has an IP68 rating as well.

Water and dust resistance tips
If you are headed to the beach or waterpark, you can take comfort knowing your Galaxy device can keep up with you if it has a high IP rating. Just make sure you don't drop the phone in the ocean or while you're going down a waterslide.
Keep these tips in mind when you're facing the elements:
- Whenever your device gets wet, dry it thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth.
- Do not expose the device to salt water or ionized water. If it is exposed to salt water, wash it with fresh water, and then dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth. Otherwise, when it dries, salt may accumulate and block the primary microphone, earpiece, or external speaker.
- When drying off your device, be sure to pat the earpiece (top front of the phone), primary microphone (bottom of phone), external speaker (bottom of phone), and the power/accessory (USB) interface connector with a clean, soft cloth to remove as much water as possible.
- Do not try making a call immediately after your device has gotten wet. The microphone may have water in it, which may lower the volume of your voice on the other line. Wipe the device with a clean, soft cloth, and then allow the phone to air-dry before making a call.
- Physical damage to your device, such as chips and cracks, can significantly reduce its ability to resist dust and water.
- If the S Pen is exposed to water, wipe it with a dry cloth. If water has entered the S Pen slot on your phone, gently shake the phone to remove the water before using it. Make sure your phone and S Pen are completely dry before inserting the S Pen. Moisture can cause the S Pen to feel stiff when you're trying to detach it.
