Set up and use the SmartThings Station

Press a button on the SmartThings Station.

The SmartThings Station will expand connectivity within your home by letting you manage all of your smart devices and appliances in one place. Instead of navigating through the SmartThings app to trigger all of your automations, simply press a button on the Station to dim the living room lights or turn on your TV. If you accidentally misplaced a device or two, you can launch SmartThings Find with the Station to locate them. The Station also acts as a convenient wireless charging pad for your Android or iOS phone!

Note: Wireless charging with the SmartThings Station is only compatible with Android phones, iOS phones, and Galaxy Buds. It is not compatible with Galaxy Watches. 

Set up the SmartThings Station

The process to set up your SmartThings Station is quick and can be done right from the SmartThings app on your Android or iOS device. Just make sure the SmartThings Station has been turned on before you begin.

  1. Navigate to and open the SmartThings app, and then tap Add now on the SmartThings Station pop-up message.

  2. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

  3. If you don’t see the pop-up, you can tap the Devices tab, and then tap Add (the plus sign).

  4. Tap Scan under Scan QR code, and then scan the QR code on the bottom of the SmartThings station.

Features

As mentioned in the previous section, the SmartThings Station can be connected to your Android or iOS device by using its automatic pop-up message or by scanning its QR code. You can then easily and quickly connect the Station to any mobile device.

The Station offers 15W, 7.5W fast wireless charging, which can trigger your preset automations. Or, you can press the SmartThings button on the Station to trigger automations manually. You can single press, double press, or long press the button.

It’s also compatible with SmartThings Find; just press the SmartThings button on the Station to activate the Ring my phone feature. You’ll be able to locate other lost items in your home as well, such as a Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds, while using the SmartThings app on your phone.

Plus, the Station can be relocated to any room in your home! If you’d like to run an automation in your bedroom, for instance, simply place the Station on your dresser or bedside table. Or, move the Station to your home office if you’d like an automation to turn on your lights, close the blinds, and mute your TV while you’re working.

Compatibility

The SmartThings Station is compatible with Samsung and Android devices running Android version 8.0 and higher, as well as Matter, ZigBee, BLE, and iOS devices running iOS version 14 and higher. It is compatible with 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi. To use the Station, the SmartThings app must be running version 1.7.91 or higher.

Note: SmartThings Find is not compatible with iOS. Z-Wave is not supported.

Matter is a brand new protocol that allows you to connect all of your home’s smart devices in one convenient place.
