  • What are the different types of ranges?

Samsung offers several types to choose from based on fuel type: gas, electric, induction and dual fuel models. You can explore your options in this buying guide.
  • There isn’t a standard size, so it’s important to take precise measurements of the height, width and depth. Make sure to add about a quarter inch to your width for easy installation and 42 to 48 inches of opening room if an island is present.
  • Gas ranges feature an open flame powered by fuel while electric ranges utilize metal heating elements that heat up or cool down by controlling the current flow.
  • Gas cooktops heat cookware using an open flame, while induction cooktops use an electromagnetic field to transfer currents directly to your cookware.
  • Samsung gas cooktops are incredibly responsive, featuring powerful burners in the front and center with gentle burners in the back. Some ranges offer smart features like voice-activated oven controls, Wi-Fi connectivity and the power to adjust the oven time & temperature remotely. You can explore your options in this buying guide.
  • The exact numbers can vary. A study from Energy Star found that an induction range is about 90% energy efficient, about 5 to 10 percent more than conventional electric ranges and about three times more than gas ranges.
  • To clean a Samsung electric range, make sure to turn off the cooktop and wait until it’s cooled down. Use either a glass cleaner or baking soda and vinegar. For a heavily soiled surface, use a glass-cleaning blade scrapper. It’s best to clean daily.
  • Samsung electric ranges supply dry heat, making them perfect for baking and other tasks where moisture is not wanted. They also offer smart features like voice-activated oven controls, Wi-Fi connectivity and remote control of oven temperature. Explore available electric range options in this buying guide.
  • Samsung induction ranges work fast thanks to a metal coil under the cooktop that generates a magnetic field. This field interacts with ferromagnetic materials in the cookware, creating an excited current in the cookware, thereby releasing energy as heat. To learn more, check out our induction buying guide .
  • It’s recommended that all ranges be vented to avoid any dangerous fumes, heat and steam from being released, along with preserving the beauty and structure of your walls, backsplash, and kitchen cabinets.

  • Ensure that you have a dedicated, properly grounded 220/240-volt branch circuit, protected by a 40-amp or larger circuit breaker. Accessories required (only included with ‘Delivery + Installation’ service) are a 3-conductor or a 4-conductor UL-listed range cord rated at 40 amp with 125/250 minimum volt range. A 40 amp range cord is recommended but a 50 amp range cord can be used if it is marked for use with nominal 1 3/8” diameter connection openings.

1Available on Android and iOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.

2Induction ranges require use of induction-ready cookware. Among Samsung non-Induction ranges or cooktops.
