“I was looking for something different, something to help us stand out from what everyone else was doing out there,” says Touchstone Living Director of Purchasing Ryan Hays. “Samsung fit the bill.” 

 

In his years of experience in the industry, Hays found that, “everyone has the same appliances,” with builders typically picking commonplace packages that uphold the status quo. “Seeing what Samsung has to offer and where this stuff is headed, it seemed like you guys were ahead of the curve compared to Whirlpool or GE.” 

 

Samsung’s vast collection of smart, innovative products helps Touchstone Living promote energy efficiency, connected living, modern amenities and other priorities of Millennial homebuyers. 

 

Samsung also offers another crucial advantage. “We wanted a name brand that people recognized,” says Vice President of Sales Aaron Alred. “Everyone knows Samsung.” 

 

Featuring a valued brand like Samsung earned the trust and recognition of buyers, allowing Touchstone Living to reach new customers and new growth as a builder. 

 

Brand Leadership 

 

Though Touchstone Living prides itself as being an economical choice, buyers are often surprised to find luxury touches when touring the community — especially in the kitchen. “In general, people are just pleasantly surprised by the things that we include in the house, which includes the Samsung name,” Alred says. “I think they understand who Samsung is. They either have a mobile phone or a TV from Samsung, so they understand the technology that’s behind it.” Alred reports that buyers are “overly impressed” when encountering Samsung appliances, thanks to the company’s reputation among prospective homeowners of all ages and backgrounds. 

 

Connected Living 

 

Samsung appliances first caught the attention of the Touchstone Living team while touring a showroom. “We liked seeing all the technological components you guys have, with more integrated features like the touch screens,” Hays said. Samsung’s commitment to connected living speaks to Touchstone Living’s young, first-time homebuyers. “They are looking for a house you can talk to and that does everything for you,” Hays says. “With newer homes, everyone is looking for those capabilities.”

 

Product Innovation

 

When picking an appliance package that would align with the company’s budget and mission, the Touchstone Living team found plenty to love with Samsung. “We have three different packages and people appreciate that they get stainless steel,” Alred says. “We’ve even done the black stainless steel, which a lot of people love.” Samsung products serve a critical purpose beyond their in-demand style. “About 95% of our buyers are first-time homebuyers, so they aren’t wanting to fix anything after two or three years,” Alred says. “The warranty you offer is more than what we were getting anywhere else.” Samsung worked with Touchstone Living to accommodate every priority, tailoring a package suited for their buyers, market and goals.

Though supply chain interruptions have caused “horror stories” for other builders and developers, Touchstone Living found a team that they could count on. “I really think you guys stepped up and took care of us,” Hays said. “You kept us going without a doubt.” Hays credits the dedicated Samsung sales team for helping the build stay on track. “Out of the gate, everything ran smoothly. Anytime I needed anything, everything just came right to me. It was a quick response, very reactive, and we got everything we needed,” Hays said. “It was an easy transition into working with you guys.
