Galaxy Unpacked July 2025: what was announced
The wait is finally over. On 9 July 2025, Samsung’s second Galaxy Unpacked flagship event of the year was streamed live around the world from New York, revealing Samsung’s brand-new Galaxy devices. Presenting the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, Galaxy Watch8, and Galaxy Watch8 Classic.
What was announced
Samsung announced the launch of its new foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, along with its latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic.
The Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE are the first devices to come with One UI 8, built on Android 16. Built for these new smartphones, One UI 8 is our most personalised UI yet. With customisable wallpapers and widgets, your Fold or Flip will be truly yours. One UI 8 is built with AI in mind. Gemini Live has been enhanced with multimodal AI that understands exactly what you say, what you do, and what you’re looking at. This means that you can ask questions without having to switch between apps. And with Circle to Search, your results will appear right where you need them in floating view.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the slimmest, lightest Fold ever. At just 4.2 mm when unfolded and 8.9 mm when folded, it weighs just 215 g. This makes it 3.2 mm slimmer and 24 g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold6. Its exterior is wrapped in Advanced Armor Aluminium, which is thinner, but stronger and more durable. Its Armor FlexHinge also makes it slimmer when folded whilst protecting your smartphone. And the Corning Gorilla Ceramic 2 glass applied to its front and back add extra resilience.
The Fold7 has an expanded 6.5-inch cover screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This makes it easier to hold and type, while its 8-inch main screen is the most expansive display on any Galaxy smartphone.
The Fold7’s camera lineup is truly impressive. Its 200 MP camera lets you capture every detail in every scene, while the ProVisual Engine improves the colours and enhances your photos. When you’ve snapped your picture, you can unfold to view it on the big screen. It also comes with a 12 MP Ultra Wide lens, a 10 MP Telephoto 3x Optical Zoom lens, and 10 MP cover screen and main screen camera.
Powered by the most advanced Snapdragon® mobile processor, the Fold7’s performance is next level, with a CPU that provides 38 percent faster processing, a GPU that provides 26 percent smoother graphics, and an NPU that provides 41 percent quicker AI.
And speaking of AI, the Fold7 comes with a whole range of AI-enhanced features. Edit your photos in Photo Assist. Press and hold objects that you want to move, delete or enlarge, then compare the edited and original versions side-by-side on the Fold7’s main screen.
With a 4,400 mAh battery and mDNIe technology, you can enjoy up to 24 hours of video on one charge.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 is also the slimmest of its kind – 0.4 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Flip6. Its expanded 4.1-inch cover screen, housed in a durable body, is truly show-stopping. Thanks to the redesigned cover screen, you can now do more than ever from the FlexWindow.
Like the Fold7, the Flip7 is housed in Armor Aluminium and comes with an Armor FlexHinge that means that it is durable and can fold thinner than ever. Its display is protected with Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® 2.
Its 50 MP selfie camera takes photos with rich details. And you can apply custom filters on the larger FlexWindow. ProVisual Engine enhances your pictures to provide even more detail. You can even apply AI learning-based custom filters to your photos to customise your pictures even more. It also comes with a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera and 10 MP Main Screen camera.
Its advanced processor provides 9 percent faster processing, while its GPU means 23 percent smoother graphics and its NPU gives 22 percent quicker AI.
For the first time, the Galaxy Flip is available in FE. The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE puts the Flip within everyone’s reach. It comes with a 50 MP selfie camera, a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera and 10 MP Main Screen camera.
Samsung also announced the launch of two new smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Both of these smartwatches feature the iconic cushion design and Dynamic Lug System that provides a snugger, more comfortable fit.
Both the Watch8 and Watch8 Classic feature a powerful 3 nm processor that provides proactive coaching, from sleep training to running tips and holistic health. As well as measuring your blood pressure, and heart rate, the Galaxy Watch8 series can help you measure your antioxidant levels. Just place your thumb on the sensor, and the carotenoid levels in your skin will let you see how healthy your current diet and lifestyle are.
The Galaxy Watch8 is the slimmest Galaxy Watch to date, making it more comfortable than ever. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic features a rotating bezel and quick button to help you enjoy a smooth, intuitive experience.
