Tips for cooking with your Samsung microwave oven

Samsung microwave cooking modes

The defrost cycle provides the best defrosting method for frozen foods. The microwave automatically calculates and sets the defrosting time according to the weight entered. For more defrosting tips you can also refer to your user manual.

1. Place your food on the turntable, and close the door. Select which type of food that you are defrosting by pressing the Auto Defrost button one or more times. Refer to your user manual for a full chart of how many times to press the button for different types of food.

2. Next, set the food weight by using the Up/Down buttons or pressing the Number buttons. For example, to select 500g, press 5, and 0 twice (500) or the up arrow until you reach 500g. Then, press START to begin defrosting.

3. Halfway through defrosting your microwave will beep to remind you to turn your food over.  Defrosting will not stop automatically, so make sure to press pause and then turn your food. Close the door and press START to finish defrosting.

Please note: Pressing STOP/CLEAR once will pause defrosting and twice will cancel the action.

Never sure just how long to microwave your food? Take the guessing out of cooking with your microwave’s Auto Cook function. Just select the type of food you want to cook and the weight and Auto Cook will do the rest.

1. Place your food on the turntable, close the door, and then press Auto Cook.

2. Use the Up/Down buttons, or Number buttons to select the number corresponding to your desired action (e.g. Reheat, Cook, etc.).

3. Press OK, and select your type of food’s corresponding cooking number (e.g. Pasta, Drink, etc.).

4. After selecting the type of food, press START if you do not need to set the amount. If you do need to set an amount, press OK after selecting the category and type of food. Enter the amount of food and then press START.

5. The microwave will automatically use its preprogramed time and settings.

Enjoy the next step of microwave technology with Sensor Cook. It detects when your food is finished cooking by measuring the amount of moisture released.

1. Place your food on the turntable, and close the door.

2. Then, select your desired category by pressing the corresponding button: e.g. Pizza, Veggies, or Reheat.

3. If needed, press the selected button again or the Number buttons to select a specific program (e.g. Frozen dinner), and then press START.

4. Cooking temperature and time will be adjusted automatically according to the selected recipe. Once the microwave detects that your food is ready, it will stop and beep 4 times.

The Speed Cook option uses preset cooking programs to help you cook meals faster. There’s no need to set cooking times, or the power level, just select the type of food you want and how much.

1. Place your food on the turntable, close the door, and then press Speed Cook.

2. Use the Up/Down buttons, or Number buttons to select the number corresponding to your desired category (e.g. Breakfast, Seafood, etc.).

3. Press OK, and then select the number corresponding to the type of food you want to cook (e.g. Salmon, Prawns, etc.).

4. After selecting your food type, press START if you do not need to set the amount.

5. If you wish to set the amount, press OK after selecting category and type of food. Enter the amount of food, and press the START button.

6. The microwave will automatically use its preprogramed time and settings.

This classic microwave function allows food to be cooked for a predetermined amount of time. Just put your food in the microwave, and enter your desired cook time.

1. Place your food on the turntable, and close the door.

2. Using the Number buttons, set the cooking time (max: 99 min, 59 sec). To set the timer for 10 minutes, press 1 and 0 for the minutes, and press 0 and 0 for the seconds (10:00).

3. To begin cooking your food, press START. When cooking is complete, the microwave will beep 4 times.

Samsung microwaves feature a power level function, allowing you to increase or decrease the amount of energy used to cook or reheat food. By default, microwaves automatically operate at full power, the most commonly used energy level.

If you need to change your power level, first press the Power Level button, then the number button(s) corresponding to desired energy level. For example, enter 20 for PL:20, or the Defrost function. You can then set the cook time and run the microwave like normal. After one cooking operation, the power level will be reset to back to maximum.

You can choose from any of the following power levels:

  • PL:0: Deodorisation
  • PL:10: Warm
  • PL:20: Defrost
  • PL:30: Low
  • PL:40: Medium low
  • PL:50: Medium
  • PL:60: Simmer
  • PL:70: Medium high
  • PL:80: Reheat
  • PL:90: Sauté
  • PL:100, or PL:Hi: High
