How does the Internet of Things work with SmartThings?

Blueprint of a home with an ecosystem of smart devices connected via SmartThings

Internet of Things (IoT) works with SmartThings to connect smart devices in your home - appliances, lights, cameras, and more - into a seamless ecosystem. Find out which devices are supported by SmartThings.

By using a Samsung Smart TV or the SmartThings app, you can control and monitor all of your linked devices through the touch of a button or the use of a voice command.

  • Effortless Control – Adjust lighting, temperature, and appliances with a tap or voice command.
  • Home Monitoring – Keep an eye on security cameras, door locks, and motion sensors from your TV screen.
  • Automated Routines – Wake up to open blinds, a warm room, and fresh coffee — all set automatically.

Where can I manage all my IoT devices?

You can manage your IoT devices from a Samsung smart TV, smartphone, Galaxy Book and tablet.

Smart TV

Samsung smart TVs feature the SmartThings Dashboard, which gives you full control over your connected devices from one big screen. You can regulate settings, remotely control household appliances and run pre-programmed routines. Get real-time pop-up notifications when your doorbell rings, your washing cycle ends, or a motion sensor detects movement.

By accessing the SmartThings app on your Android or iOS smartphone, Galaxy Book or tablet, you can control your IoT devices the same way you can with your Smart TV.

Do I need extra equipment to connect IoT devices to my TV?

Most 2023+ Samsung TVs (Q60C and above) include a built-in IoT Hub.

For older models or UHD CU7000/CU8000, a SmartThings Hub Dongle is required. Find out more about the Smart Hub Dongle.
