As a volunteering enthusiast, Laura Tobin gives her top tips for getting involved with your local community
1. Tap into your passions
Passion is contagious, especially when it's rooted in purpose. It's so important that you invest your time in something that brings you fulfilment. Meet new people, learn a new skill or contribute to your community. In this fast-paced digital world there is a surge of fresh opportunities to complement a whole range of interests.
2. Do your background research
For example, how much time can you offer your desired position versus how much they are requesting? If flexibility is one of your considerations, you’ll find there are plenty of roles you can do from home on your smartphone or laptop.
3. Make use of all the resources available
If you’re struggling to find out what is out there, online platforms such as DoIt can be really helpful in showing opportunities from a whole network of charities, to match your local area and interests.
