Tips for turning entrepreneurial spirit into career success with Toni Tone

Nov 14. 2022

Nearly half of Brits (40%) have an entrepreneurial spirit but aren’t clued up on where to start. With 53% of the nation finding the process for applying for jobs overwhelming yet 42% aspiring to change their profession, there is a nation of untapped talent eager to level up their career game.

To help those facing socioeconomic related barriers in their job search, we’ve teamed up with Toni Tone to reveal tips to inspire you to stay motivated and on track to break into the career you want.

Toni’s top tips

1. Step out of your comfort zone

This doesn’t need to be a scary concept – take baby steps to do things that are only a little daunting at first. This way you’ll gradually work your way up and before you know it, you’ll be taking the big steps in no time. When it comes to taking risks, I only make calculated ones. I left my 9-5 to work for myself only when I had saved up enough money to sustain me, had my entrepreneurial shift failed.

2. Expand your network

Don’t let not having the right network stop you from getting where you want to be, whether that be a physical network around you or your digital network online. Make new friends, meet friends of friends or find new communities to get involved with – spending time in different environments will not only grow you as an individual, but you might be able to learn from someone who has gone through experiences that are relevant to you.

3. Failing to plan is planning to fail

One thing that makes me feel less confident in my job, is being under-prepared. The more prepared I am, the more confident I feel. You can never do too much research – before interviews find out what the company does, why they do it, examples of their work and prepare questions to ask your interviewer. Information overload is real – I always make notes on my phone when I’m on the go so I don’t forget them. I’d encourage you to do this with interview notes so you can run through your key notes wherever you are, even if it’s on route. The multitasking on the Galaxy Z Fold4 can instantly switch full screen to split screen, so you can get more done on the move.

4. Discipline is an essential part of success

Affirm your goals. To stay motivated its key to remind yourself of why you’re being disciplined in your career search in the first place. Be disciplined with your time. Don’t waste it investing energy into jobs that aren’t inspiring you or dwelling over opportunities that haven’t gone your way. Have a regular structure in your day to keep you focussed and eliminate distractions. One way to do this would be setting aside one hour a day to be on your laptop/tablet browsing for jobs – a power hour is better than 10 minutes here or there where you don’t get much done. The Galaxy Book2 Pro offers the power you need when you need it.

5. Dress to impress but also for you

Consider the type of job you’re applying for and the working environment you would be in. Is it a creative role? Is it a corporate role? Is it client facing? What kind of outfit would suit the workplace but also allow you to feel like yourself. You only have one chance at a first impression so show up to interviews looking like you made an effort. Focus on feeling comfortable no matter what you wear. We can’t work effectively when we don’t feel comfortable physically.
