Why is My Dryer Not Drying Clothes Properly

Last Update date : Jul 15. 2022

If your dryer is not drying well, there are a few possible reasons. Here are some troubleshooting tips for you to follow.

Consider dryer capacity

Before you start, make sure you have not overloaded your dryer. If the dryer is overstuffed, the result may be damp clothing at the end of the cycle. It will be more difficult for the dryer’s heat to reach every piece of clothing if it is overloaded. Items need to tumble freely to dry. It is recommended to load the dryer to three-quarters of its capacity.

Also, it is best not to mix light clothing with heavier clothing. The dryer will stop once the light items are dry, while the heavier items will remain damp.

Extremely small loads may not be enough to brush against the sensor bars for the dryer to detect if wet laundry is still inside. Adding a few more items helps to keep the load balanced.

Be sure to keep the Lint filter clean. Check the Filter Alarm. It is recommended to clean the Lint filter before every load.

  • Gently grab the top of the Lint filter and pull up.
  • Spread open the outer filters and remove the inner filter. Be careful not to use excessive force as this can damage the filters.
  • Remove the lint from both filters. If the filters have excessive dust, use a vacuum cleaner. Take extreme care not to damage the filters.
  • Clean the filters with the cleaning brush. Also, it is recommended to clean the filters with running water.
  • Place the filters in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight until they are completely dry.
  • When the filters are completely dry, replace the inner filter into the outer filter.
  • Reinsert the Lint filter into the original position in the machine.

*Caution: Direct sunlight may cause damage to the filters.

When it is time to clean the Heat Exchanger, the dryer will alert you by displaying the ‘Clean Heat Exchanger’ message.

  • Gently press the top part of the outer cover to open.
  • Unlock the inner cover fixers, and then pull the inner cover to remove.
  • To avoid physical injury and burns, do not touch or clean the Heat Exchanger with bare hands.
  • Clean the dust on the Heat Exchanger using the provided cleaning brush. To avoid damage to the fins, it is recommended to use vertical movements during the cleaning process.
  • Also, clean the inner cover with a smooth, damp cloth.
  • Reinsert the inner cover to its original position, and then lock in place.
  • Close the Heat Exchanger’s outer cover.
  • After cleaning the Heat Exchanger, tap O to dismiss the notification message. The message will remain on until you dismiss it.

Next, use a proper course to dry your items. If the laundry is still damp, either raise the Dry Level or add more time. You can also select additional dry courses.

  • When using Sensor Dry cycles, raise the Dry Level or select and add a dry course.
  • Time Dry cycles run for a predetermined length of time and then stop. If needed, add more time to dry.
  • Pattern cycle recommends the best drying cycles for the loads and remembers the most frequently used cycles and their settings (Dry Level, Time).

If the dryer displays the ‘Empty the tank’ message and stops operating, the Water tank needs to be emptied.

  • Pull the Water tank handle slowly. The Water tank is heavy and hot, so remove it using both hands and keep the tank level.
  • Empty the Water tank through the drain hole. Before reinserting the tank make sure there is no remaining water in the tank.
  • Place the Water tank back into place.
  • Tap and hold the O button. The ‘Empty the tank’ message will disappear, and the dryer will resume drying.
