How to update the software on your Samsung Smart TV and Smart Monitor

Software updates for your Samsung Smart TV and Smart Monitor provide access to enhanced features and bug fixes. Our guide provides instructions for updating your TV or monitor to the latest version. You can perform updates automatically, manually, or by using a USB flash drive.

If your Samsung Smart TV or monitor is connected to a network and the Auto Update option is enabled, your TV or monitor will automatically update when it is turned off. You can follow the steps below to enable Auto Update.

1 Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support.
2 Select Software Update.
3 Select Auto Update to turn it on and enable automatic updates.

If your Samsung Smart TV or monitor is connected to a network, you can manually update the software using the Software Update menu.

1 Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support.
2 Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.

3 Your TV or monitor will check for available updates. If an update is available, the update process will begin immediately.

If your Samsung Smart TV or monitor is not connected to a network, you can download the latest software file from the Samsung website and save it to a USB flash drive. Then, you can connect the USB flash drive to your TV or monitor to perform the update.

Notes:

  • Save the update package in the USB drive’s top-level folder. Otherwise, the TV or monitor will not be able to locate the update package.
  • If there are multiple files, place all of the files in the USB drive’s top-level folder.
1 On your TV or monitor, navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support.
2 Select About TV or About Monitor to find your Model Code.

3 Using a computer, visit the Samsung website and then select Support in the top right corner. Select Manual & Software.

4 Next, enter the model code to access the support page for your specific model. You can also select your product type and then search for your product.

5 Select the desired software file, and then select Download.

6 Allow the download to complete. When the file has finished downloading, locate it and then unzip it. There is normally one folder inside but there may be multiple files.

7 Next, connect a USB flash drive to your computer. Copy or move all of the files that were included in the zip file to the USB flash drive, but do not place them inside any other folders. If you place the software folders inside a folder on the USB flash drive, the TV or monitor will not find them.

8 Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your TV or monitor.

9 Follow the prompts to update the software. Alternatively, navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.

Note: The update will take at least 10 minutes to complete. The TV will restart automatically afterward. Do not turn off the TV or remove the USB flash drive until the update is complete.

  • If you are having trouble with your Samsung Smart TV, you can check for available software updates, as these may contain a solution to your problem.
