How to adjust sound settings on your Samsung Smart TV

Adjusting the sound quality on your Samsung Smart TV is easy, thanks to the Sound settings menu. You’ll be able to customize the sound using advanced settings such as Auto Volume and HDMI-eARC Mode, and change the Sound Mode depending on the content you’re watching.

You can change the TV’s Sound Mode using the Settings menu. Additional sound adjustments can be made using Expert Settings.

Note: Supported functions may vary depending on the model, region, input signal, and software version.

1 Select Settings on the left side of the screen, and then select All Settings. You can also select Sound Output and Sound Mode in Quick Settings if desired.

2 Select Sound, then select Sound Mode, and then select from the following:

  • Standard: Provides balanced sound.
  • Amplify: Amplify the mid and high tones. This is helpful when dialogue is difficult to hear.

Notes:

  • When an external device is connected, the Sound Mode may change accordingly.
  • When Game Mode is enabled, Picture Mode and Sound Mode are switched to Game automatically.
3 Next, select Expert Settings.

4 You can adjust the following advanced sound settings:

If you adjusted the TV’s sound settings and need to start over, you can reset the sound settings using Expert Settings.

1 Select Settings on the left side of the screen, and then select All Settings.

2 Select Sound, and then select Expert Settings.

3 Select Reset Sound.

There is no sound or the sound is too low at maximum volume

There are a few potential solutions to try, including checking your TV's volume control.

1 To check the TV's volume control, press the VOL+ button on your remote.

2 If the external device came with a separate remote, press that remote's VOL+ button.

Note: The Volume button label may vary by device, device model, country, or brand.

3 If your TV is connected to an external device, such as a soundbar, check the user manual to ensure that it is correctly connected to your TV and that all cables are securely fastened.
4 Make sure the correct output is selected under Sound Output. From the TV’s Home screen, press the Left button on the TV’s remote control. Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and choose the device you want the sound from.

5 Next, run a Sound Test. Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support. Select Device Care, then select Self Diagnosis, and then select Sound Test.

6 If the problem persists, your TV may require a software update. Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.

No sound from soundbar connected using HDMI (eARC/ARC)

1 Check that the HDMI cable is firmly connected to the HDMI to TV (ARC/eARC) dedicated ports on both the TV and soundbar. Make sure both the TV and soundbar are powered on.

2 Press the Source button on the soundbar's remote control to select D.IN mode.

Note: If you select D.IN mode, the soundbar will automatically set the source to TV ARC or TV eARC after a few seconds.

3 From the TV’s Home screen, press the Left button on the TV’s remote control. Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and then select Soundbar (HDMI).

4 If you still do not hear the sound, navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Connection. Select External Device Manager, and then turn on Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).

5 Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Expert Settings, then select HDMI-eARC Mode, and then select Auto.

6 Next, select Digital Output Audio Format, and then select Auto.

No sound from soundbar connected using Bluetooth

Sound quality may vary depending on different factors. Make sure the Bluetooth speaker is as close as possible to the TV without any obstacles. Do not place the wireless router nearby.

1 Ensure the soundbar power is on.

2 Ensure the soundbar is connected properly to the TV using Bluetooth. From the TV’s Home screen, press the Left button on the TV’s remote control. Navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output.

3 If there are no Bluetooth devices connected, follow the instructions in the user manual of your soundbar to enter pairing mode.

4 While in pairing mode, use the TV’s remote control to navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Sound. Select Sound Output, and then select Bluetooth Speaker List.

5 Select your soundbar, and select Pair and connect.
