Guidance for users who are sensitive to certain materials

A small number of users may experience skin reactions to certain materials. This can be due to the exposure to substances that may cause skin irritation (such as soap, sweat, lotion and sunscreen, etc.) for an extended time, certain environmental factors, or allergies. Refer to the below information about the materials that are included in the Galaxy Buds if your skin is highly sensitive or if you have an allergy to any of the materials identified. Remove your Galaxy Buds from your ears and consult a medical professional if you experience itchiness, redness, swelling or other irritation.

[Nickel]
The main body of the Galaxy Buds includes stainless steel.
Stainless steel, known as a non-corrosive metal alloy, consists of steel (Fe), nickel (Ni), and chrome (Cr). Although it is widely used for everyday products, some people may have an allergy to some of the materials included in it, such as nickel.
Samsung Electronics manages the amount of nickel used in Galaxy Buds to be below the strict level set by the E.U. Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation. Also, we have found that users are minimally exposed to any nickel based on analysis from a third party institution.
It is highly unlikely that an issue related to nickel will occur. However, if you are allergic to nickel, be careful to prevent skin problems.

[Acrylate]
The main body of the Galaxy Buds includes acrylate.
Acrylate (Methacrylic acid), used for the colourization of the Polycarbonate (PC), which constitutes the main body of the Galaxy Buds, is commonly included in consumer goods that come in contact with the skin, such as plaster gauze. If you are sensitive to this material, be careful to avoid skin reaction when using your Galaxy Buds for a long period.
Materials that meet the standards of the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the regulations of European countries, and other international standards are used in the Galaxy Buds. When using materials not explicitly covered in the regulations, we work hard for your safety by extensively and continuously conducting internal wearing tests, noxious material tests, and skin toxicity tests for all materials that come into contact with skin, in cooperation with certificate authorities worldwide.

How to wear and maintain the Galaxy Buds

Insert the earbuds in your left and right ears using a moderate amount of force. The earbuds should fit securely and comfortably and there are different sized tips that can be used. If you use too much force to push the earbuds into your ears or wear them for an extended time, you may feel pain or your skin may become irritated. Also, when you listen to audio on your Galaxy Buds at a high volume for long periods, you may experience discomfort or hearing loss, so remember to set volume levels appropriately.

Always keep your earbuds clean and dry. If your Galaxy Buds are exposed to dust, sweat, ink, oil, or any chemical products which may cause device damage (soap, shampoo, cosmetics, sunscreen, antibacterial spray, hand sanitizer, detergent, or insecticides, etc.), soak a lint-free, soft dry cloth into clean water and lightly wipe off the material. Before use, dry the Galaxy Buds thoroughly. Keeping your Galaxy Buds clean helps prevent damage to the device.
To clean the ear tips, wash them with clean water and lightly wipe them with a lint-free, soft dry cloth. Before use, dry them thoroughly.

Do not use soap, cleaning agents, abrasive materials, chemicals other than alcohol or compressed air when cleaning your Galaxy Buds, and do not clean them with ultrasonic waves or external heat sources. This may cause product damage such as discoloration or corrosion.

Clean and dry your Galaxy Buds product after workouts or exposure to potential skin irritants such as dust, sweat, soap, shampoo, cosmetics, sunscreen, lotion, and hand sanitizer.

Is it OK to clean my Galaxy Buds with alcohol swab or disinfecting wipe?

You can lightly wipe on the exterior surfaces of each earbud with a lint-free, soft cloth that has been lightly soaked in 70 ~ 80 percent alcohol. After surface cleaning, dry it thoroughly before wearing. Don’t use the alcohol swab or disinfecting wipe on the speaker hole. Also, do not use bleach or detergent.
