Visualizing the hybrid world
The role of display technologies has become even more important in a hybrid world of work and play. Understand how organizations need to rethink engagement, productivity and collaboration in a world where the merger of virtual and physical engagements has become a norm.
Sep 13. 2022The past 2 years have forced governments, industries and communities to rethink engagement, productivity, and collaboration in a world where the fusion of virtual and physical engagements has become the norm.
Whether in-person or connecting virtually, the emphasis must be on making interactions inclusive for all, as well as equally rewarding and effective for all participants.
For organizations, this requires a fundamental redesign of spaces to encourage and catalyze the kind of productivity and collaboration that a hybrid approach enables.
The role of display technologies has in fact become even more important in this hybrid world where it can help organizations to connect with its customers and even make possible new experiences that enrich and empower lives.
Here are three scenarios that can be reimagined to transform customer experiences and forge lasting impressions in a hybrid world:
1. Lobbies & multi-functional spaces
A lobby or multi-functional space today in offices, retail shops and hotels is no longer the same as before. After all, why visit a physical space if you can have all the information at your fingertips on your smart devices at home?
With the rich experiences that online interaction delivers, for example, through a website or app, it is imperative that brands and businesses find more effective ways to make any in-person or physical interaction more meaningful and rewarding for their customers.
This is where today’s state-of-the-art display technologies come in – they help reconnect brands to their consumers by optimizing these important in-person interactions. For example, The Wall, which is Samsung’s Micro LED display solution, offers immersive visual experiences in a high-resolution, large screen, and modular format to create premium customer engagements in lobbies, boardrooms and showcase centers.
Thailand’s largest property development project, The Forestias by MQDC, makes use of The Wall to create a 360-degree theater to offer audiences a one-of-a-kind visual experience that is both immersive and larger than life. (Read case study here)
The Wall enabled The Forestias to create a one-of-a-kind visual experience
The video screen is composed of 384 Micro LED panels that are arranged in a line to produce one single 360-degree continuous image consisting of four sides. It has a combined resolution of 46,080 x 4,320 pixels.
All that comes together to deliver a 360-degree animated theater experience that is both mesmerizing and immersive for visitors to The Forest Pavilion, which currently functions as the sales gallery for the new development. Eventually, the theater will be transformed into a shared learning center for residents.
Taking Micro LED technology to the next level is The Wall All-in-One, also called the IAB Series. The IAB Series features significantly simplified installation, requiring just two hours and two individuals to install as it comes with a pre-adjusted seam and Pre-Assembled Frame Kit, which includes an embedded media play S-box. With a thinness of just 49mm, The Wall All-in-One is available in three models: 4K 146-inch, 2K 146-inch and 2K 110-inch.
2. In classrooms and meeting rooms
Significant change has also come to the spaces where many of us spend so much time in – classrooms and meeting rooms.
Here, displays become the bridge between the virtual and physical worlds. The strategy for schools and businesses should then be about creating inclusive experiences so that collaboration is seamless and immersive in a hybrid world where we expect participants to be joining in remotely and physically.
In Singapore, Arcc Spaces deployed the Samsung Flip to transform its premium co-working space into a hybrid workplace that enhances collaboration for today’s modern workstyles. (Read case study here)
The Flip enabled Arcc Spaces to reframe meeting experiences in a hybrid world
Using the Samsung Flip interactive display, meetings become more efficient and productive for participants, whether those working from the co-working space or connecting remotely from elsewhere.
As its name suggests, Flip enables participants to easily scribble and jot notes on, just like with a flipchart. Key to this is the smooth pen-to-paper-like writing experience, as well as support for four users interacting with the screen simultaneously. This is how Samsung display brings the tactile physical elements of the traditional whiteboard meeting experience into the digital realm.
This has helped Arcc Spaces, which is situated in Singapore’s financial district, to attract organizations that are looking to transform the way they work and drive innovations in a digital world.
The new 2022 Samsung Flip Pro elevates collaboration for students and professionals with real-world writing and drawing experiences with pen and brush modes, integrated video call apps, multiple connectivity and wireless screen sharing. The Flip Pro is available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models.
3. At home
Even at home, lifestyles have changed. For those working from home, we are expected to be seamlessly productive and collaborative at the same time. We need to be able to do more, often under compressed timelines, as we look to collaborate more efficiently and meet ever tighter deadlines, while juggling the needs of family life.
This is where monitors have become even more important. In a hybrid world, monitors need to enable us to do more than just extend our desktop spaces; they need to be multi-functional, enabling us to balance work and play as well.
The Samsung Smart Monitor M8 perfectly encapsulates this new hybrid world ethos with its 32-inches form-factor, UHD resolution and integrated SlimFit Cam. More than just a monitor for work, the M8 allows users to enjoy a variety of OTT1 services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ without the need to connect to a PC or TV.
The new Odyssey Ark, which is the Samsung’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming monitor, can create a whole new immersive and personal gaming theatre for competitive and casual gamers alike. It’s Multi View mode enables the Ark to be split into different screens suitable for gaming, entertainment and even work. In a hybrid work and study scenario, users need to have the same powerful tools and devices in the office or at home. Samsung’s new ViewFinity monitors, for example, are made for professionals that require pinpoint accuracy, deeper details and consistency throughout their work. Think of designers, artists, and other creators who use these screens as canvases for their ideas and creations.
The new ViewFinity S8 enables work and play at home for demanding professionals and creators
The ViewFinity S8, for example, offers pro-grade UHD resolution with a wide color gamut and Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) DisplayHDR™ 6002 for more range, accuracy, and nuance.
Professional factory calibration ensures colors are projected in crystal clarity on the IPS panel, which creates vibrant color reproduction and contrast when you are working on the most complex visual and design projects.
Long hours of work lead to eye strain; that isn’t a problem for the ViewFinity S8, which comes with intelligent eye care functionality certified by TÜV Rheinland. It also features Adaptive Picture for optimized quality in any viewing environment, Eye Saver Mode and Flicker Free technology.
Harnessing display technologies to unleash new potential
It is clear today that the vastly different ways people work, play and live, are altering how customers engage with and experience what brands have to offer. In this hybrid world, in-person interactions must be more rewarding and engaging, even as we meld the digital with the physical.
As businesses transform digitally, they need new ways to better collaborate and deliver results. In classrooms, students are seeking more enriching learning experiences. At home, people need new versatile devices to work and play.
In this new normal, organizations and brands must urgently develop new display strategies that are relevant and fit for purpose, more so for a future that is already on our doorstep.
