What are the requirements and correct location for the installation of an air conditioner
The materials and the correct location for installing the wall air conditioner and external unit is as follows.
For best results, we strongly recommend the Samsung installation team to install the air conditioner.
Summary of requirements for the installation of the Air Conditioner
RAC –Residential Air Conditioning
Closed indoor enclosure, of thermal capacity according to the equipment. The minimum spaces, without obstacles and seen from the front, for installation of the indoor unit are:
Open outdoor place where to locate Outdoor Unit. Minimum spaces without obstacles that do not allow the continuous flow of air:
- Power supply with Voltage 220 Vac. (Check that your supply does not have voltage rises or falls).
- Plug or fixed electrical point, with a circuit (electrically protected) with sufficient capacity for the current of the equipment and close to the unit from which the product is energized.
- Check that a suitable grounding connection is available.
- Piping kit including product: 12 feet.
FJM – Multi-Split.
Closed indoor enclosure, of thermal capacity according to the capacity of the equipment. The minimum spaces, without obstacles and seen from the front, for installation of the indoor unit are:
Open outdoor place where to locate Outdoor Unit. Minimum spaces without obstacles:
- Power supply with Voltage 220 Vac. (Check that your supply does not have voltage rises or falls).
- Plug or fixed electrical point, with a circuit (electrically protected) with sufficient capacity for the passage of current from the equipment and close to the outdoor unit.
- Check that a suitable grounding connection is available.
Note: The flexibility of these products is multiple, which is why cooling pipes and wiring are not included, because each installation is different and needs specific requirements.
RAC – Residential Air Conditioning
Closed indoor enclosure, of thermal capacity according to the capacity of the equipment, with wall without inclinations where to install the Interior Unit and that supports its weight. Minimum spaces without obstacles:

Open outdoor place where to locate Outdoor Unit. Minimum spaces without obstacles:
- If there is a prevailing wind, the Outdoor Unit must be installed in such a direction that the wind does not collide with the air discharge of the product.
- Power supply with Voltage 220 Vac. (Check that the voltage and frequency of the supply meet the rated voltage and that your supply does not have voltage rises or falls).
- Plug or fixed electrical point, with a circuit (electrically protected) with sufficient capacity for the current of the equipment and close to the unit from which the product is energized.
- Check that a suitable grounding connection is available.
- Installation kit including product: 12 feet.
- Maximum total pipe length in equipment of 9,000 and 12,000 BTU/hr are 15 m.
- Maximum total pipe length in equipment of 18,000 and 24,000 BTU/hr are 30 m.
- Minimum length of pipes: 3 m.
Recommendations:
- Put attention if your Indoor Unit needs a condensate pump. Use and operation are not the responsibility of Samsung Air Conditioner.
- In case the indoor unit is installed in an unenclosed enclosure, the product may not reach the desired temperature and the energy consumption may be higher than the nominal reported on the board.
- Plugs and electrical points must be installed by Technicians Certified by the principal electrical entity of your country.
- Do not install the outdoor unit under a closed shed, much less glued to the ceiling.
- Do not install the outdoor unit on the outside wall of your room. At night their perception of noise and vibration can increase and generate discomfort.
- Save the Purchase Invoice. This is the document you will need in case you need a guarantee.
- Installations carried out by third parties or unauthorized Samsung workshops void the warranty of your product.
FJM – Multi-Split.

- A single Wi-Fi Kit is needed for each FJM device (an outdoor unit and its respective indoor units) for all indoor units to be recognized in SmartThings.
- The flexibility of these products is multiple, which is why cooling pipes and wiring are not included, because each installation is different and needs specific requirements.
- This product is Multi Split and Joint-Free (Outdoor Unit has separate outputs for each indoor unit to avoid making soldered leads). Properly cover the pipe lengths you need and this will make work faster and safer.
- Be sure to respect the maximum and minimum pipe lengths so that your system is designed correctly and its operation is as expected.
