How to solve S Pen connection issues

The S Pen is an exclusive accessory for Samsung's Galaxy series, enabling users to fully enjoy their devices through creative activities like drawing, sketching, designing, or taking notes on the go. Occasionally, you may encounter connection issues with your S Pen, causing it to lag or lose connection with your device. To resolve these issues and ensure smooth operation, follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below.

My S Pen is not connecting

If your S Pen is not connecting to your Galaxy device:

1 Ensure you are using the correct S Pen for your specific Galaxy device, as compatibility varies between models. S Pens are not interchangeable and may not function on unsupported devices.
2 To reconnect or reset your S Pen, perform the following steps:

Step 1. On the Home screen, swipe down on the notification panel.

Step 2. Tap the notification for S Pen connection.

Step 3. Reinsert the S Pen as instructed on screen.

Step 4. Wait for the confirmation message on your phone.

To reset the S Pen:

Step 1. From your Home screen go to Settings.

Step 2. Scroll down and select “Advanced features”.

Step 3. Select “S Pen”.

Step 4. Select “Air actions”.

Step 5. Tap the more options icon.

Step 6. Tap “Reset S Pen”.

If you still have connection issues after resetting your S Pen, restart your phone or tablet. Restarting a device may fix any issues and help the S Pen connect again. 

Please note: Exposure to magnetic or metal objects, as well as some third-party covers and screen protectors may cause issues with the S Pen. Make sure your screen covers or screen protectors are clean, in good condition and Samsung approved.
