Samsung Tablet helps The Oxford School in digital learning
Feb 18. 2021Challenges
- The Oxford School wanted to make their learning-teaching process more interactive and fun by adopting a pictorial and video-based learning approach
- The school also wanted to digitise their examination system to avert the old method of writing and checking answers on paper. In doing so, it wanted to make sure that exams are held securely in an online environment
- There was no way for teachers to monitor students’ devices, and students’ privacy and protection against cyber bullying was also a serious challenge
Solution
Overcoming the aforementioned challenges required technological support, which was provided by Samsung.
- Galaxy Tab A 8.0 was provided by Samsung for its significant performance, 400nits bright display, and compact size that made single-hand use easy for students and teachers. Also, it made the classroom experience more interactive for teachers, and students alike
- The Assessment Module on the Learning Management Collaborative Platform digitised the examination process, while Knox API’s Kiosk Mode was used to lock the screen so students couldn’t switch between apps during their exam
- The sub-exam module EduClock, which is a part of EduCare, used Knox API to ensure that examinations were timed correctly when attempted by students
- To enhance monitoring and to control cyber bullying, the content accessed and typed by students on the tablets was monitored and restrictions were applied on the IP using Knox Security provided by Samsung
- Knox SDK provided the much-needed SD card encryption
Result
- Thus empowered by Galaxy Tab A 8.0, students could read and watch videos from their syllabus anywhere, even in direct sunlight
- Therefore, with Knox API locking device screen, the exams were held in a secured environment, and the teachers could grade the students easily and more efficiently
- Thus using EduClock, which is a part of EduCare, teachers could control the devices inside the classroom intuitively, and could see even the minutest of details on students’ devices such as battery information
- Thus restrictions applied on the IP using Knox increased cyber transparency and restrained cyber bullying
- Therefore, the SD card encryption enabled by Knox SDK added another level of security to students’ and teachers’ devices
