How to Enhance your Galaxy S22 Screen Brightness & Smoothness
Thanks to the enhanced display features of the Galaxy S22 Series, you will experience visual improvements in any lighting condition. With the Vision Booster and Intelligent Adaptive Refresh Rate, you can enjoy brighter videos and media with smoother colour contrast.
Before you try the recommendations below, be sure to check if your device’s software and related apps are updated to the latest version. To update your mobile device’s software, please follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to Settings > Software update.
Step 2. Tap on Download and install.
Step 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Ultimate outdoor visibility with Dynamic AMOLED 2x
The Galaxy S22 Ultra boasts a 6.8-inch Edge Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x display, which provides 16% more brightness and a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate keeps the scroll smooth, adjusting to what’s on-screen for an optimised view.
Note: The Dynamic AMOLED 2x display of the Galaxy Series received a certification from VDE Germany for 100 per cent Mobile Colour Volume in the DCI P3 colour range.
Vision Booster
The Galaxy S22 Series comes with the ‘Vision Booster’, a technology that provides tone mapping for enhanced visibility against strong illumination in outdoor settings.
Vision Booster’s Intelligent Outdoor Algorithm analyses the histogram data of content appearing on the display, inspecting each pixel’s value. It enhances colour tone and expands the dynamic range by analysing the scene. Then, it performs tone mapping to adjust the display, making dark areas brighter and colours richer, maximising colour contrast for a sharper picture, even in direct sunlight.
Use a high refresh rate to prevent the screen from flickering when switching between screens. The screen will scroll more smoothly. When you select a standard refresh rate, you can use the battery longer.
Step 1. Go to the Settings screen, tap Display > Motion smoothness.
Step 2. Select a Refresh rate.
- Adaptive: Get smoother animations and scrolling by automatically adjusting your screen refresh rate up to 120Hz.
- Standard: Use a standard refresh rate in normal situations to conserve battery power.
Note:
- When you set the screen motion smoothness to Adaptive mode, your device changes the display refresh rate automatically depending on the situation and the content being played.
- If you set Power Saving mode, it cannot be switched to Adaptive mode for saving battery life. Therefore, deactivate the Power saving mode first.
When using the 120Hz display refresh rate on the device, the battery may be drained faster compared to when the device is set to the 60Hz display refresh rate. Therefore, if you want to conserve battery power, it is recommended to use the Standard refresh rate of 60Hz on the device. (Settings > Display > Motion smoothness > Standard)
It is also recommended to optimise the battery usage time by setting the Adaptive battery option (Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings > Adaptive battery) or putting unused apps to sleep depending on your usage patterns.
Note:
- Battery usage time may vary depending on the device settings and operating conditions or installed application lists.
Adaptive brightness
You can set the device to keep track of your brightness adjustments and apply them automatically in similar lighting conditions.
Go to Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness
Extra brightness
Extra brightness mode provides more brightness in indoor settings. This feature is available when you deactivate the Adaptive brightness feature.
Go to Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness Off > Extra brightness On
Note:
- If you are using Extra brightness mode on the same application or fixed screen for a long time, it may cause an afterimage and stain on the screen because of the AMOLED characteristic.
- Extra brightness mode can increase battery consumption.
- If you do not need the Extra brightness function in the situation, turn it off and use Auto brightness.
- If you experience an afterimage or stain on the screen, please visit the nearest Samsung Service Centre.
Note: Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
