How to use Camera Assistant on your Galaxy S24 Ultra

Customise your camera experience with the Camera Assistant app on your Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Enable, disable or change the camera settings to suit your preferences and be ready to capture the perfect moment. Learn more in the below video.

Please Note: You must first download & install the Camera Assistant app from the Galaxy Store. You can then launch it via the camera app.

Go to Camera app > Camera Settings > Camera Assistant

Customise settings to your preference

 

Crop zoom shortcuts

Select the extra zoom shortcuts to show. These zooms use remosaiced crops of the high-resolution sensor to match the quality of optical lenses.

 

Auto HDR

Capture more detail in the bright and dark areas of your pictures and videos.

 

Picture softening

Smooth out sharp edges and textures in Photo mode pictures Off / High.

 

Auto lens switching

Let the camera pick the best lens based on the zoom, lighting and distance to the subject On / Off.

 

Distortion Correction

Automatically fix bowing or bending lines caused by lens and perspective distortion.

High Resolution Settings > Adaptive Pixel

Reduce noise in low light shots by combining multiple lower-resolution frames into the final high-resolution picture.

 

High Resolution Settings > Upscale Digital Zoom

If the resolution decreases due to zoom, upscale pictures back to the resolution you selected.

Quick tap shutter

Take pictures as soon as your finger touches the shutter button instead of when you remove it.

 

Prioritise Focus Over Speed

Wait for the camera to finish focusing before triggering the shutter. This may delay the shutter slightly.

 

Video recording in Photo mode

Touch and hold the shutter button to record videos in Photo mode.

 

Timer multi-photo options

Lets you set the shooting interval as well as the number of photos to be clicked.

 

Camera timeout

The preview screen of the Camera app can stay on for 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes.

 

Dim screen while recording

The screen can be dimmed after 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes of no input.

 

Clean preview on HDMI displays

Show the camera preview without settings or buttons on HDMI-connected displays.
