Certified for the Athena Project

Both the Book Flex and Book Ion have been certified by Intel for the Athena Project, a standard made for mobile performance notebooks. Certification is given to products that meet Intel’s requirements for mobile performance, network capability, battery life, and more.

Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 is the latest, fastest, and more secure wireless connectivity standard, giving you a maximum data link speed of 2.4Gbps (300MB per second) if your network environment supports it. Set up with a Wi-Fi 6 compatible router and a wireless connection speed of 2.4Gbps and you can download a 4GB movie file in approximately 13 seconds.

Book Flex and Book Ion come equipped with fast NVMe type SSD storage so it’s lightning-fast to transfer files, and apps and files launch in an instant.

What is an SSD?

An SSD (Solid State Drive) is a type of flash-based memory which has significantly faster read and write speeds compared to traditional mechanical hard disk drives (HDD). SSDs use a memory chip rather than relying on moving parts, so when your computer requests a file it can read the data almost instantly, meaning your computer will run faster – particularly important if you're going to be using your PC to download and access large files, stream music and films or use it for gaming.

Even better, SSDs are more shock resistant which means that if you accidentally drop your device you are less likely to lose your data than you would if your device had a traditional HDD.

What does NVMe mean?

NVMe (Nonvolatile Memory Express standard) is the interface through which the data is sent from the SSD to your computer's processor. It's important that this connection can support fast speeds so that your computer can run quickly and smoothly. NVMe can support significantly faster speeds and lower latency compared to conventional SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) type SSDs.

Book Flex and Book Ion both have a slot where you can insert either a microSD card or the latest UFS card to get even more storage. UFS cards are similar in size to microSD cards but deliver SSD-like speed and performance. You get up to 5 times the sequential read speed compared to regular SD cards and 2.2 times the write speed.

Book Flex and Book Ion have stereo speakers, and the sound profile has been tuned by the world-renowned premium audio brand AKG.

Samsung’s Smart Amp technology increases the volume level significantly for even richer and more immersive sound. Even at maximum volume, there’s minimal sound distortion, so you can enjoy incredibly impactful sound while listening to music or watching movies without using external speakers.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI

Book Ion has a Thunderbolt 3 port, while Book Flex boasts two, giving you the fastest, most versatile connection to compatible 4K displays and peripheral devices. Wide backlit keyboard

The keycaps on the keyboard are approximately 10% wider than the keycaps on Notebook 9 Pen, and 9.1% wider than the keycaps on Notebook 9 Pro. It’s comfortable and accurate and it is backlit, so it’s easy to type, whenever and wherever you are.

Quick Search is an app that gives you super-fast search results. There is no need to install anything, simply press Fn+F12 and Quick Search will instantly launch.

Quick Search provides three main ways to search for your files. You can choose to search by file name, by the content inside your documents, or search for text shown in images.

Through the search options, you can set details like location, date, and keyword. Unlike the default search feature, Quick Search searches not only the file name and extension, but it also searches the content inside documents and even text inside images.

If you want to search for a document with a certain word, you can simply switch over to document and type in the word. It supports a wide range of different document types, including TXT, DOC, PDF, PPT, and more.

Quick Search even supports OCR, so you can search for text inside images so you can easily find images with words and find photos of various documents you have saved.

Live Wallpaper is an app that automatically changes your wallpaper image, based on your interests. For example, you could select the Design, Fantasy, Travel, and Urban categories and the wallpaper image will change according to your preferences.

The wallpaper displayed will change based on your environment for example the time of day, weekend, etc and new, high quality wallpapers are added to the collection regularly.

You can also designate a folder for the Galaxy Book Ion to display as your wallpaper. Images will be displayed sequentially, with the most recently dated photos shown first.

To set up Live Wallpaper:

The smart search feature in Samsung Gallery analyses your photos and automatically creates groups (Kids, People, Food, Sports, Architecture, etc.). You can then search for images using detailed keywords (for example, "ice cream", "snowboard" or "drinks"). Or, instead, search for text inside images (for business cards, webpage capture).

Studio Plus is an app that lets you easily and quickly make and edit videos. It's simple and intuitive to use and has an easy-to-use interface so even if you're new to video editing, you'll be able to try it out.

You can set different themes, insert titles and captions, apply effects, music and more. You can even take images and videos saved in Samsung Gallery and create your own videos with Studio Plus.

Studio Plus can also analyse photos inside a designated folder and automatically create videos or create automatic albums by recognising highlight photos by year.
