In conjunction with the upcoming Internation Day of Sign Languages on September 23, Samsung today announces its expansion of the existing Sign Language Support Service for more Samsung products, enabling sign language users to communicate more conveniently and smoothly with customer service representatives when using products and technical support services, to receive the most thoughtful and suitable services.

 

Samsung also provides support for individuals in need through built-in accessibility features on their devices, making device usage more tailored to their needs. Sign language users can adjust the hearing enhancement settings to facilitate the access to information in various environments, enhancing the usability of the devices. Additionally, various features of Galaxy AI aim to bring more convenience to sign language users, easing the language and communication barriers. Through Galaxy AI and various support services, Samsung offers more considerate services and experiences for sign language users.

 

Samsung’s Sign Language Support Service Brings Convenience for More Products’ Users

Samsung launched its Online Sign Language Support Service in 2021, offering technical support to sign language users for their smartphones and tablets. Sign language users can schedule via appointment on Samsung website video calls, during which Samsung's Sign Language expert assists in communication between sign language users and Samsung's customer service representatives, explaining product features, general usage, and troubleshooting to ensure customers receive help and services as needed.

 

Samsung is now expanding its Online Sign Language Support Service to support a wider range of products, including larger electrical appliances that requires door-to-door maintenance services such as televisions and refrigerators. Customers can simply make an appointment in advance when requiring door-to-door assessment or repair services, and a Sign Language expert will be assigned to help with the communication between the sign language users and the on-site representative through real-time video call, ensuring smooth communication throughout the process. This service not only resolves technical problems effectively, but also allows customers to feel at ease during the service while they can express their needs and concerns anytime.

 

Built-in Accessibility Settings Allows Sign Language Users to Use Galaxy Devices Easier

The Live Caption[1] feature automatically caption media playing on users’ smartphones. It supports any video, podcast, audio messages, and across any app, even content that users recorded themselves, without the need for Wi-Fi or mobile data. Additionally, with the Live Caption in Calls option, users can read the call in automated captions and respond by typing text, which will be read out to the recipient using Speech Service by Google, ensuring smooth and effective communication between both parties. Users can also turn on or off caption preferences and customize the size or style of it at Caption Preference[2].

Live Transcribe feature makes communication between sign language users and others simpler and easier. The feature can detect the language that is being spoken from over 70 languages and dialects. Captions will be adjusted and displayed as the conversation flows. Meanwhile, the feature can identify non-verbal elements such as music, alarms, and babies’ cries, and provide the caption in text format. Even if users cannot effectively receive surrounding sounds, they can still realize the environmental changes nearby through text anytime, enabling them to participate and interact with others even better in social or public.

 

Besides, Sound Notifications can alert users by detecting the sound of surroundings, allowing them to be aware of the important situations at home, such as when the doorbell or alarm rings, and to respond quickly.

The Hearing Aid Support feature on Galaxy devices can enhance the sound quality, allowing users to adapt their hearing aids more effectively. Users can connect their hearing aids via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to watch stream media and use the route call audio feature[3]. Users can also amplify the sounds around through Amplify Ambient Sound[4] and perceive surrounding sounds clearer, even in the cafe or on the street, always remaining alert.

 

Adapt sound can adjust sound based on the users’ ears condition to achieve the best listening experience. Users can choose a preset that matches their ages or try a hearing test to get the fully personalized sound. For users with special needs, they can use the Mono Audio feature to combine stereo sound into one signal that can be played through all earphone speakers, or they can adjust the sound balance via Left/Right Sound Balance to suit their hearing preferences.

 

Galaxy AI Eases Language Barriers for Sign Language Users and Brings More Possibilities

Samsung Galaxy AI offers unprecedented experiences and conveniences for sign language users. With advanced artificial intelligence technology, Galaxy AI has completely transformed user habits in communication, work, and information access, significantly enhancing the quality of life. The Text-to-Speech feature in Call Assist allows sign language users to communicate in real-time through their smartphones. Users simply need to make a call, turn on the feature and input the text, and then Samsung’s built-in Galaxy AI will quickly convert the text into natural and fluent speech, such that the call recipient can listen clearly. Whether it be calling family and friends, making restaurant reservations or business meeting, this feature greatly enhance communication convenience and efficiency, providing new possibilities for sign language users to communicate and establish connections without barriers.


When sign language users connect their Galaxy Buds3 with Galaxy devices, they can turn on the Live Translate feature in the Hearing Enhancements. By wearing the earbuds, users can receive real-time translations during foreign language lectures or museum tours. Users can set their translation language preferences so that they can easily understand the content of the lecture and embark on new learning and communication experiences. This feature can also be used in daily life when communicating with foreign language speakers, significantly improving communication.

 

Galaxy AI’s Transcript Assist feature supports multi-user transcription, translation and summarization, providing sign language users with great convenience. In meetings or discussions with multiple participants speaking, the feature can accurately identify each person's speech and generates complete text records. The transcript can also be translated into other languages and summarized, allowing users to quickly grasp the key points of the meeting. This feature is not only applicable in work settings but also in daily life, such as casual conversations with friends, generating text content that helps sign language users to better communicate with others.

For example, when they want to express something or describe an unfamiliar object, they can quickly sketch it out and let Galaxy AI to generate a visual presentation, thus helping them to communicate with others more effectively.
