Water Management Process

To increase the use of recycled water in our manufacturing processes, Samsung Electronics classifies water resources into the four categories of sewage, wastewater, industrial water and ultrapure water. We make sure that individual sites track the reuse amount for each category on a monthly basis and enter the data into the N-EHS System, our environment management system.

To prevent pollution, we have installed groundwater pollution prevention facilities at our business sites, while also safely treating wastewater through on- and off-site treatment facilities.

DX Division (All global manufacturing sites)

Water Resource Flow Diagram (DX Division, 2025) - Water sources are categorized into surface water, groundwater, and treated wastewater from external facilities. Surface water amounts to 17,795 thousand tons, groundwater to 904 thousand tons, and treated wastewater from external facilities to 12 thousand tons. The water then goes through the manufacturing process, where process water reuse amounts to 2,083 thousand tons. Water generated from the manufacturing process is transferred to on-site treatment facilities; after treatment, 2,724 thousand tons are discharged into rivers, and 12,474 thousand tons are transferred to off-site treatment facilities before final discharge through public wastewater treatment plants. Reused treated water from the manufacturing process amounts to 621 thousand tons, consumption such as evaporation amounts to 3,512 thousand tons, and water returned to the environment amounts to 2,361 thousand tons. Surface water amounts to 153,238 thousand tons, groundwater to 0 thousand tons, and treated wastewater to 0 thousand tons, with future intake planned. In the process from water supply sources to manufacturing, water use reduction amounts to 21,869 thousand tons. The water then goes through the manufacturing process, where 107,967 thousand tons are reused through water reuse within the manufacturing process and on-site recycling facilities. After on-site recycling, 58,156 thousand tons are discharged into rivers, and 65,995 thousand tons are transferred to off-site treatment facilities before final discharge through public wastewater treatment plants.
