Sustainability in Operations > Reducing Water Use and Air Pollution

Water Management Process

To increase the use of recycled water in our manufacturing processes, Samsung Electronics classifies water resources into the four categories of sewage, wastewater, industrial water and ultrapure water. We make sure that individual sites track the reuse amount for each category on a monthly basis and enter the data into the N-EHS System, our environment management system.

To prevent pollution, we have installed groundwater pollution prevention facilities at our business sites, while also safely treating wastewater through on- and off-site treatment facilities. Notably, when discharging water directly into bodies of water using in-house treatment facilities, legal and rigorous internal standards are applied.

  • Pollution prevention facilities protect
    underground water
  • On/Off-site treatment facilities
ensure safe treatment of water being
    discharged
  • Application of legal standards and
    rigorous internal standards
    for direct river discharge using
    in-house treatment facilities
